Or just go to the Xbox website and Crackdown's on there under the games for gold tab (free). That's where I got it from half an hour ago.

Obviously updated the website before the UI(!)

Crackdown is definitely going to be downloaded to be played again whether I still have a save for it, or not.

I had so much fun last time round with it.

    @duffman5

AC2 was removed from the free gold game at midnight last night, so today being the 1st of august a new game enters and the old one disappears - hence you have to pay for it.

At least thats what i read on some xbox live page

@killersrquiet He was talking about the games for gold part on the dash. Still had AC on it rather than Crackdown.

Oh I see. I should have read it clearer. Downloading crackdown, I never actually played this before so I've no idea what to expect. Its quite old I'm expecting it hasn't aged well

I appear to still have a 180kb crackdown save, I hope that's the one with my character info!

Not that I expect to be playing it any time soon, it looks like the server is getting hammered as I have 0% progress after a few mins waiting. Time to switch off and let active download do it's thing when it can.

It is on the games for gold thing now btw.

@killersrquiet IMO its just as much fun as it always was. Be sure to download the free DLC for it as well[and the others for that matter].

Sort of reminds me of GTA2 with the gangs and barest hint of a plot.

Fun, though the controls could be tweaked a bit better and the cars handling is shoddy although I don't know if its the skill level that's affecting me.

Yeah, car handling is pretty awful but really all about the running and jumping unless your driving out from HQ. Find those orbs! :D

I gave up last time, might see if I can get the rest.

Finding that last orb is one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life. I even recorded it on the Sony Ericsson phone I had at the time. Love this game.

@bobdebob Handling improves as you level up.

Beat the first gang, it's fun and all but the city has this hollow feeling like millionth playthrough on Zelda 64 and orb collecting gets tiresome but there's no proper missions to break it up.

Played for 30 odd mins (just dicking about) before bed last night, it is still great :)
I have erased all save data from when I played and completed years ago, so will have to do it all again.

I love the art style, but then I have always liked cell shading in games. The car control is lovely and considering I was playing GTA IV not 2 hours earlier and really struggle with the car handling on that one*, Crackdown was bliss ;)

To this day the vehicles morphing is one of my fav things in gaming, when that feature didn't appear in C2 I thought that was a massive mistake.

I never co-op'd the game, now looks like a good time with more people on then ever maybe, assuming it still has online

*don't give me that "gta handling is more realistic rubbish as well" it is in a game where you kill lots of people and shoot pigeons, who wants realism!

"Duffman the grey is thrusting in the direction of the problem! Oh, yeah!"

Orb collecting still so much fun.

Best use of collectables in any game.

I've only been on console gaming a few years so crackdown was new to me. I was very suprised to see the splash screen showing 2007 - a very old game for free.

It was midly fun but the extremely OTT auto aim annoyed me. I couldnt find an option to disable it either. I will play it a bit more but dead rising 2 holds more of an interest for me.

I reckon I will be playing some crackdown tonight. I still have a lot of orbs to find if I remember correctly and a car to level up quite a bit more. assuming my tiny save is enough for all that info If not I wil just have to start from scratch again with more gangs to bust and heads to crack on behalf of the agency :)

Duff, we will have to try to schedule some co-op shenanigans on this some time if you like. I never tried that last time since I got it long after every one else had probably given up on it.

I think I may have picked it up a while before Crackdown 2 was released to see what all the excitement was about. It was a shame that whilst C2 was fun, it didn't quite hit the spot as well for some reason.

Its aged brilliantly imo, the cell shaded graphics haven't aged and the controls are tight.  The sound effects are great, really heavy and meaty, even the custom soundtrack is great.  When I played this years ago I was only on a standard def 28" CRT tv as well, on a high def big screen it's nice.  I love the cityscape in this, really well realised future dystopia, and it's got that essential to a sandbox game of being fun as fuck to just drive around and do stuff.

I'm surprised how much I'm looking forward to going through Crackdown again.  Perfect free game really, can't moan.

I've never actually owned either Crackdown or DR2 for some reason. So yay.

Curious if you honestly think you are ever actually going to play them.

Don't believe you at all. There are far too many decent games to be playing without wasting time on old and mediocre games because you got them for free! But maybe you play more that I do.

Definitely looking forward to DR2, as I haven't played any of the Dead Rising games. Nice of them to throw in Case Zero as well.

I know where your coming from with this.

I didnt download Fable 3 and wont bother with Crackdown either - Ill never get round to playing it. Dont even get enough time to play the games I want to play!

DR2 though Im a bit more keen on so will give that a bash.

I can't bring myself to delete any just incase i have that sudden urge to play them:)

i will play dead rising more just for the silly things you can do
