Granted, the MS conference isn't exactly groundbreaking stuff, but the live comments from EG are so cynical and needlessly sarcastic it isn't even remotely funny.

Fair play you don't like the course MS has laid for the future of their platform (I don't either), but FFS - how about a smidge of professionalism anyhoo, eh?

"COME ON ASHTON, KICK HIS ****ING HEAD OFF"

    Brilliant stuff, Ellie.

I'd be surprised if they aren't just as cynical about the other conferences and assuming they are I see no problem with it, it's just their style and if anything is a little refreshing.

Don't be so defensive. They're always like this.

Idunno. There is a point when clever sarcasm becomes tiring, predictable and puerile, and the coverage of the MS conference has reached it (for me, at least).

It doesn't have to be all grown up and po-faced all the time, but why do live coverage if it's just going to consist of third-rate oneliners with little to no relevance to what's going on on-screen?

Nah I agree with phAge, it gets very wearisome and try hard after a point

Yes, a bit naff. I suspect it's Ellie's influence, she's OTT sarcastic and tends to veer the whole debate in that direction

Ellie is your typical smart arse nerd. Full of smarmy wit, but very little actual intelligent comment ever comes from her. Games journalism is already fucking awful without employing clowns like her.

Instead of trying to be funny all the time, she she work on her professional skills as a writer. She's nowhere near as good as she thinks and probably finds herself funnier than anyone else finds her.

She does this site no favours whatsoever.

I said it on the live stream comments, but I honestly thought Microsoft could have showed the next coming of Christ and Eurogamer would have made a silly remark about next generation beards.

I am genuinely surprised about the amount of negativity about the MS conference.

I hate the idea of locked games and no game ownership. The original reveal was far too TV focused and unimpressive. However, this gave everyone what they have been asking for. Games, games, games, including many exclusives.

    - An offering similar to PS+ with free games? Check
    - A conference focused on games? Check
    - In-game footage of games that looked pretty impressive. Check
    - Demonstration and investment in new IP? Check
    - A return for Killer Instinct that many have hoped for? Check
    - An interesting turn of having an exclusive Insomniac game. Check

The only dower for me was the price. What the hell are MS thinking!?! If they want this to be an "everything box" under the telly in most homes and attractive to more casual TV-focused audiences, they need a better price than this. I am also still massively against all the restrictions around game ownership.

    Where am I now:

    - If Sony are cheaper (or the same price), and don't lock the games to your account, I will get a PS4.
    - If Sony lock games similar to MS, its anybodys game.
    - If Sony lock games, but are cheaper, I will probably go PS4.

Ultimately, I intend to buy both (as I have for the last 3 generations), but locked games would put me off buying a console, unless all competitors do the same. If both MS and Sony lock games, I'm afraid to say that as much as I will not be happy with it, I'm not prepared to miss out on all of the next-gen games and I might just have to lump it.

Better to say nothing and be considered a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt
