@SomaticSense I don't mind having them, but not at the expense of other full circuits.

This. I think they are easy to add in and are worth doing. I doubt they really prevent other tracks being created. And these variations are often used for different racing disciplines in the real world.

most importantly to me and probably least liekly to happen; a re-positioning back towards actual motorsport. Now that horizon exists for the more casual driver i'd like to see Forza set about really showcasing motorsport and not only circuit racing. There's

    Hillclimb
    Rally
    Drift
    Circuit

and within those many disciplines and series. I would love to see a real career structure that represented actual motorsport (similar to the fifa style system pCARS is supposedly implementing) and the ability to reflect actual events at amateur, club semi-pro and professional level

Much Improved AI - it won't be acceptable for it to blindly path it's way around anymore, needs to show awareness and racecraft.

Living Track - support beyond tyre temps - it needs to start employing wear and track evolution. Any tie in with a weather sysetm would only be a plus. the F1 games are way ahead in this regard.

    Improved physics modeling
Cars like the V8 supercar highlight the limitations of current forza's ability to dela with high camber this needs some attention

A career structure that isn't a mind-numbing series of 3 lap races starting from last with a target to finish 1st

"Drift" can utterly and completely do one.

@StarchildHypocrethes actually I always enjoy drift. It's a nice change to 3lap racing. Done well it can be fun. It was always the first thing I wanted to do on grid

Nothing makes my heart sink more in a racing game than a mandatory drift section. Thank fuck Shift 2 let you proceed perfectly well without doing any of its drift events.

Yeah, to clarify: i have no desire to participate in Drift beyond maybe hooning around for fun with a friend in (local) multiplayer. I wold hope that designers are smart eough these days to realise that in games of this sort forcing multi-discipline on you with no option to do the event type yu enjoy is a big NO.

However drifting exists as a real world 'motorsport' and so i included it on my list.

@shamblemonkee we can't both have 'more Motorsport variety' and 'no bloody (insert Motorsport type)' can we!

I think having more visually distinctive tracks instead of just circuits with little to differentiate them.

Good racing circuits with challenging corners are interesting. For motorsport fans. ;)

@Maturin yes, but too many of them are the bland or dull ones.
Circuit de Catalunya I find dull. Plus a bit sick of motegi and Sedona.

Maybe something like china, with its distinctive stands, or Singapore lit up, or Abu Dhabi with a sunset.

I'm not so keen on Motegi or Catalunya either. The ones I mentioned earlier in the thread would be good additions. Plus, as others have said, some good quality fantasy tracks.

They need to update Silverstone. Desperately.

Yes and they should have done it for FM4. For all of the franchise's excellent qualities Turn10 has a poor attitude to tracks.

For me the tracks have more impact on the game than the cars.

i quite liked the option in grid that disabled race restarts, if you got a bad start or made a mistake you had to make the best of it and carry on, you know, like a racing driver. it made a second or third place feel like an accomplishment rather than a failure.

of course it was only an option in grid, it should have been mandatory, and dont get me started on rewinds, they are an abomination and dont belong in any real racing game

(Limited) Rewinds are great, make things a lot less frustrating. In my humble opinion, of course.

I have to say I don't mind rewinds. Providing there are punishments to your winning for using them.

I don't think no restarts is viable without them. Just gets too frustrating on tough levels, especially the longer races.

@StarchildHypocrethes if its available and gives an advantage, you have to use it, that is the very essence of all motorsport

No you don't. It's no-one else's fault but your own if you don't have the self restraint to not use something.

You're not driving real vehicles, though. They're just games.

but if restarts and rewinds are part of the game its because the difficulty, balancing, and structure of the game are geared towards a soulless grind of win after win after win

If you told me they were screenshots from a new Forza on 360 I wouldn't have noticed that they looked particularly special.

Not dissing the new hardware, just saying we've already reached the point where this kind of game looks more than good enough and the leap to the new generation isn't all that big. Which hopefully means that if they're not spending the processing power on a big graphical leap, it means they'll have plenty left over for dynamic weather, larger number of cars on track, better AI and the like.

I'll be surprised if they have many new tracks to be honest. It hasn't been that long since the last game and tracks are limited by development time rather than hardware. I'd imagine their focus has probably been on improving the experience with what they have, along with a modest selection of new content.

I can't stand the Xbox One name; but Xbone sounds so cool I hope Microsoft adopt this name in the future. Unless some little known porn star has copyrighted the Xbone name; then Maturin should contact Microsoft and propose the name change.

I thought exactly this when I saw the screenies too. FM4 looked sooo good, it's hard to see where they could go. If someone had told me they were FM4 screenshots, my crappy eyes would not have argued.

FM4 was already running at 60fps, with an incredible lighting engine, and infintesimal graphical detail. They can make it look even better, sure, but the question is how much? And will you notice it while careening around Silverstone?

Seconded. Xbox One is a daft name, but Xbone works.

Regarding rewinds in games, I've generally used it in Codemasters racers because the game handling isn't generous enough to signpost when you're about to lose traction and will apparently randomly throw you into a hedge. I don't know how it works in a real car on a race track, but I'd assume you have more of an insight to when the wheels are about to lose it compared to when you've viewing a TV on a static sofa and using a game pad.
But still I won't use continues in 2d shooters or fighting games, as I consider that to be cheating.
