Don't think you even need a compatibility pack. You do the other way, opening docx on Word 2003 or something, but not to open .docs on 2013. Prior to that, they were all plaintext anyway.

My main concern with all this is their ability to keep the Auth servers running reliably. With all the hate going around you know that they are likely to be targeted by DDOS attacks, etc. Not too mention that XBL fell on its arse for 3 weeks in iirc christmas 2008. Sony shutdown PSN for a month after the hack and when ubisoft were using online checks their servers were up and down like a pair of prostitutes knickers. Plus with games that "need" the cloud are we going to start getting MMO style server queue's?

I think these lines from this Kotaku article really bring home how ridiculous it has all become
It would have been absurd if your SNES cartridges only worked in your SNES. Or if Street Fighter II couldn't be played at an arcade if Capcom's phone lines weren't working. Or if Metroid's "true" ending had only been available as part of a $5 expansion.
@LeoliansBro It wouldnt have been 'ridiculous or unreasonable' in the early 90's if you couldn't play Street Fighter in an arcade because Capcoms phone lines weren't working??...... oooooookayyyyy

No, it'd have been annoying. It'd have been absurd if you had to pay for the call...
I'm glad to say I was wrong, it isn't the death of preowned games, it's the death of the Xbox. RIP you control obsessed, anti consumer cunts.

But you will notice, the small guy didn't let go of the game. They're not telling us something.
Glue! There's glue on the box. Once you pick it up, it's stuck to you forever!
Edit: it's GRM, Glue-based Rights Management. The glue is watching you.
