That's called a sense of humour. I'd recommend one. :)
Who says I didn't find it funny?

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

I feel this deserves a bit more of an answer, because cherry picking lyrics is an exceptionally poor way to gauge the quality and thought of someone's music.

Let's go back a couple of years to MBDTF - that album was about self-loathing. Every track exposes Kanye as a failure, either ethically or morally. The guy fucking hates himself.

Fuck arguing and harvesting the feelings, yo, I'd rather be by my fucking self.
Till about two a.m. and I call back and I hang up and I start to blame myself.
    Somebody help.
Yeezus is about identity. He's got a wife and he's about to have a kid. He doesn't know who the fuck he is any more (remembering what it felt like to be a prospective dad, I can relate to that). Hence the album title "Yeezus" - what is he now? A cipher? A trope? A new dad? A loving husband? A player?

The lyrics juxtapose rapper tropes with deep self-doubt and uncertainty - it's intentional, he doesn't know who he is any more. But most of all, he's angry, really fucking angry and frustrated... and scared shitless...

All that cocaine on the table you can't snort that.
That going to that owing money that the court got.
On and on that alimony, uh, yeah-yeah, she got you homie.
'til death but do your part, unholy matrimony.
    :-P

Giving Yeezus a listen now. Loving it, but I'm only three tracks in. The lo-fi, noisy production is doing a lot for me.
I love the album but the first few tracks are the best. Drops off a
    bit after the ragga track.
First dark twisted fantasy now this, epic production.

That breakdown halfway through On Sight totally slays me.

He might be an absolute knobber but he doesn't half know how to put together an album. Yeezus is brilliant.

Yeah, that track reminds me of Justice (which he's a big fan of).

I've never liked his vocal delivery, so I'll pass.

Plus he's a bit of a twat by the looks, and his lyrics are terrible.

  • Deleted user 19 June 2013 13:39:51
Yeah never been a fan of his vocals either but he is a superb producer.

It's an interesting album, but I think MBDTF still edges it for me, Yeezus comes across as a bit too egotistical in it's message, where as MBDTF was pretty spot on big middle finger to modern American culture.

All about the track new slaves for me.

Lyrically he is actually good, his voice and flow isn't the greatest though.

They're often incredibly corny in a "so bad it's good" way. But that's his schtick and it works. I certainly wouldn't call him a terrible lyricist.

He's up there with some of the greatest pop music producers of the last twenty years or so for sure. Don't think that quite puts him in the Mozart category, but I'd expect the likes of Britney and Bieber are beating down his door.

Yup. Pop music doesn't just become hip hop because he's black.

Just finished first listen whilst doing housework, production side of things is impeccable! Can't comment yet to the lyrics as have to have several listens first but I love lyrics on new slaves (played that four times in a row).

I like it when he performed Golddigger at the Diana Memorial concert, then started rapping about his car accident.

I think Golddigger and him being with Kardashian is hilariously ironic. That slob will do anything for a dollar and some attention.

I don't think he's short of a few bob, if you're implying he's marrying her for money.
