good call, folks, really enjoying it...
Same. Its really, really good. I particularly like Barry Mindhunters gruff partner. He reminds me of the security guard from Bart gets caught shoplifting.

Yeah I'm properly loving Mindhunter. I really can't understand how his girlfriend got the part though, every scene she's in is fucking painful.

I'm looking forward to the Tedster making an appearance.

She's a particularly twattish character, though. It feels like she has escaped from a Kevin Smith movie.

She's the only bum note, really.

Just as counter point to all the mindhunter love, i hated it. It's one of the most tedious things i have ever seen. I couldn't even watch the last 10 minutes of the first episode. I just couldn't stand it one second more. Cliched characters, mummy dry academic lectures, dull protagonist. Mumbling deathly boring conversations that go nowhere slowly and a pace that would have trouble over taking a tortoise.

I know it's got almost universal praise and I'm that lone nutter mumbling to themselves that their teeth are being tapped by aliens... I think i have a contrary gene. I hate community, black mirror, always sunny, only fools and horses, and many other critically acclaimed tv and movies. Also. Godfather is shit :p

Life would be rubbish if we all liked the same things.

Mindhunter is next on the list for us I think.

Big Mouth is quite funny if you ignore the gross stuff
I've watched the entire series about 3 times now. I found it hilarious! Probably one of my favourite cartoons for adults at the moment.
Big Mouth is fantastic. There's a lot more to it than weirdness and gross (genuinely unsettling at times) gags; it's surprisingly tender, poignant and well-written too and the characters are sympathetic despite being hugely flawed.
I binged it over a weekend and thought it was great. It can be pretty gross but manages to deal with some real issues at the same time.

    Plus I laughed a lot.

Indeed :) Hopefully you hate it though. It's getting lonely under this bridge muttering to myself. I need some company. Being tin foil and whatever you dou don't let them listen in on your teeth!

The first episode is kind of shitty (especially the godawful scene in the night club) it picks up a lot after that. If you think the Godfather is shit there really is no helping you though.

Not really a spoiler for Mindhunter but I suppose it might be for some.

The guy at the start of each episode is Denis Rader, BTK. He wasn't caught until 2005.

Are they really going to cover 30 years in the series?

Well okay i do recognize the Godfather is a very good movie by almost any metric you care to use, it's just not for me. Maybe there's a bit of hope for me! And yeah that night club scene was a particular low.

    @wobbly_Bob

I have not tried Mindhunter but I did try Stranger Things the other day, after constant recommendations.

It didn't do it for me at all. Precociously annoying kids who should have been quietening down and going to bed thanyouverymuch.

My wife agreed. She looked up after fifteen minutes of vague disinterest and said, "What's this? Is there not anything else on?"

Netflix definitely needs a scheduler or something. At the moment I've got star trek, Mindhunter, the expanse and now stranger things on the go.

I’m enjoying Mindhinter, a lot, but I’m getting the Gosling vibe from the main character. Is he retarded? Is he acting retarded? Is his character meant to be slightly retarded or is he just not up to it. Or is the writing for his character not quite up to it? And it’s distracting me from the story.

I found Mindhunter a bit slow and boring in the second episode especially, but ended up 'watching' the rest by putting it on in the background and paying attention now and then when it sounded like interesting stuff was happening. Was okay but didn't ever really leap out at me as the OMG AWESOME! new Netflix series everyone had been setting it up as. Am enjoying Discovery way more, and the new series of The Good Place (neither of which are Netflix shows, technically).

I was hooked by the first fifteen minutes. Sounds like your wife doesn't like scifi type shows, and you don't like entertaining escapism about kids. In which case of COURSE it's not the show for you! :)

I can't get my head around them watching Netflix and his wife asking if there was nothing else on. It's Netflix, they have about 7 or 8 programmes on there.

Is the new Star Trek any good if you think Star Trek is terrible?

It would probably help if you are already familiar with is world, but they aren't space jovo's in this as much as, say TNG or Voyager.

Just don’t under any circumstances go into the dedicated thread. It’s some sort of parallel universe where I feel Razz and Dirtbox are harrassing the virginity back into me. Like some sort of Anti-Weinstein

I think I managed 20 minutes. 1991 special effects, SERIOUS BUSINESS, and boring as fuck.
