I really hate Guss, he is whiny cunt who does the "I'm a nice guy, please like me ladies, pleeeeasse like me". too much hope for Mickey kills him with a bat or golf club and smashes his face in.
He also looks like Bert Racoon.

Hah. Cedric Sneer surely? Either way his nose is staggering.

Man, I used to think Dougs was cool. I would welcome a whirlwind but eventually fatal 6 month emotionless romance with Mickey.
Thinking she's a bit of a cunt doesn't preclude any such eventuality imo. It might hasten the end though.

I was torn between saying Bert Racoon and Cedric Sneer but if you look he actually has the same hair and eyes as Bert Racoon as well.

I'm giving Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency another go. I still can't shake the feeling that they've swopped wit for wackiness and somehow turned Douglas Adams writing into something that sits alongside shows like Psyche or Town Called Eureka or Haven or Elementary and should probably be on in blocks during the day on Sky Living or Five* or SyFy.

Considering his part was originally written as Tom Baker's Doctor this Dirk is such a charmless prick.

And yet I keep watch despite not finding it funny or emotionally engaging.

There are a few of the Netflix Original series where they've aimed for complex and interesting characters but they stray into being slightly annoying arseholes. Love, You Me Her, Flaked and Easy come to mind. There might be others. Netflix don't make/buy that many so that's a decent percentage of programmes where they have a character of about 30 years old who is a bit of a tosser.

It's been on for ages. I've drunkenly watched the first 20 minutes before falling asleep at least 4 times.

Ha, there are so many films I do that with. Aliens probably top of the list. Dazed and confused the other one. Oh, and Clerks

The relaxing voice of Bob Ross is perfect if you're looking for something to induce sleep. The number of times I've been watching him paint a forest scene and woken up to see him painting, well, it's still a forest scene but it's a different forest scene.

He's great. I sometimes think about trying to buy one of his paintings. He must have painted a lot. I've even started beating the devil out of my toilet brush.

I take back a lot of what I said about Dirk Gently. It's not got much/any Douglas Adams content or wit but the plot and supporting cast are all quite a lot of fun.

Dirk and Frodo belong on one of those second rate shows I mentioned above though. Dirk in particular is too often just the model portrayal of the wacky fish out of water character who populates unfunny light touch crime drama on channels like Sky Living. Which is annoying because I like the show and love the source material.

I really enjoyed it but then I never really liked the books and didn't even finish the first one, so I have no attachment to the character. The one in the show is a bit of a knob but I found it's not really about him, more about the guy along for the ride with him, is it that hobbit guy? I forget.

Just got reminded that Marvel's Ironfist shows up on Netflix tomorrow. That's probably going to be recommendable.

On that note, does Netflix do midnight launches? Because if so, less than an hour to go.

I like that he blamed Donald Trump for the bad reviews. I believe Steve Bannon was to blame for that 7/10 Zelda review.

@zisssou I'd watch one that wasn't trying to be a gritty documentary.

Anyway, Dirk Gently, starts average, ends up great - recommended.
