Anyone received their copy yet? Just ordered mine from Shopto. Frame-rate doesn't look great from the video reviews I've seen, but I'd still prefer to play it on the 3DS, plus it's cheaper than the Wii version! With the free game promotion around, thought I might as well snap it up now.

Mine arrived yesterday from Shopto. It's quite tricky!

Got mine yesterday, only done the first few levels but it looks lovely and has a good challege to it. Really enjoyed what I have played so far and would recommend it for anyone on the fence.

I think the 3DS version is meant to be around 30fps, wheras the Wii version was a solid 60fps.

It's not the halved frame-rate that's the issue, just that it dips quite severely in some sections. From what I can see in the video reviews, anyway.

@Kay yet the EG review mentioned a solid framerate. Giant Bomb led me to believe there were issues but after that review I thought it had been sorted :-(

I downloaded it this morning. Not played much but it plays well and the 3D is good.

I'm enjoying it too, but the frame-rate isn't ideal - as a result the controls don't feel quite as precise as they should do. Not a huge problem in the early levels, but I wonder how they'll cope later on when the game (apparently) becomes rock hard.

The game underneath seems great so far though, very nostalgic - didn't expect to hear the same tracks from the first DKC, but I'm not complaining.

I'm waiting on my 32gb SD card to be delivered so I can download this monster.

I really can't wait. I haven't played a Donkey Kong Country for years.

Good god the barrel rocket level In World 3 is rage inducing. I really hate those levels.

So I'm up to the fourth world and I'm enjoying it but it's really just made me want to buy it on Wii. The framerate really isn't stable enough and the controls don't feel as responsive as they should.

I think a HD rerelease on WiiU eshop would have been better but I got it for free through Nintendo's promotion so shouldna grumble.

Definitely a very good game though.

Ive actually been rahter unimpressed with it, as you say, the controls dont feel responsive at all and the low frame rate let it down and dont make it feel smooth and slick, its making me wish it was on WiiU instead. I've only done the first couple of levels but dont really feel complelled to carry on. Still, I'm sure it'll grow on me in the future if I spend a whole night on it.

That's a little disapointing. If you can find it cheap, I do very much recommend the Wii version. The motion controls really aren't as bad as people say. I found the Wii remote and nunchuck to be the best control set up, too.

I'm loving it. And this is coming from someone who hammered the Wii version. I personally don't have a problem with the frame rate and I've done the first 2 worlds so far.

what annoys me is you can change the controls to Dpad but it changes the attacks to the triggers???

Still, I had another go last night and its still a good game despite the framerate (which isnt all that bad)

Up to 4-3 now and loving it, giving it some proper time now.

Not noticed a single dip in framerate either so all good for me.

I quite enjoyed the minecart bits, but man, they chew through your lives

Haha yeah definitely, the last level I did was a minecart one. As soon as DK hops in one, my immediate reaction is "MINECART LEVEL WOOOO!" before dying repeatedly :)

One of those rocket barrel bits in the caves cost me like 15 lives in a few minutes

I've lost countless lives trying to get the KONG letters on some of the minecart/rocket levels, and it's almost always the letter O that's the worst. It really is fiendishly placed on some levels, on 4-3 it took me a good 45 minutes to finally get it and finish the level.

Nearing the end now, cracking game and the frame-rate is nowhere near as bad I feared it would be.

No FPS issues. Game is wicked difficult, died in the first three stages going for KONG/Puzzle pieces. Completed 1-4 without dying and am proud. Later stages are gonna hand my arse to me.

Up to 7-3 now - by the looks of my post yesterday morning that I don't really remember, I've completed three worlds since then, WAHEY!

Really is a fantastic game - later levels are bastard hard but luckily not as bad as I feared. Reaching one of those little pig checkpoints is almost as relieving as finding a bonfire in Dark Souls!

Should note that whilst I'm going for all the KONG and puzzle pieces I see, I'm not going massively out of my way to get them which might be why I'm making the progress I am. Just need to decide if I'm going to go back and try to get them when I finish the main game or to press on with reducing the backlog.

Not too bothered about the jigsaw pieces, but I'm trying to get all the KONG letters first time as collecting all in a world unlocks a secret bastard-hard additional level for each world.

Also, although I haven't used a single item so far, the banana coins are handy for stocking up on lives. I usually have at least 50 before tackling a minecart level. :)

Hahaha yeah same here - only thing I've used those coins on so far are the key to unlock the path in each level and of course, stacking up on lives!

Difficulty level seems a bit lower than the Wii version but I'm thinking it's largely due to the improved controls. I didn't mind the waggle controls but analogue stick is better. What were frustrating boss battles are now considerably easier on the 3DS.

Curious about this, never played the Wii original. Opinions though - what's the better platformer out of this and Rayman Origins (I loved RO)?

edit: I don't mean just on the 3DS either - it seems clear that this is the better game in that respect.
