As far as I'm aware that was the prevalent view at the time when churchill grew up, there was the english who were gods gift to the world and then there was everyone else in the commonwealth and if you weren't english you existed solely to serve the British empire.

Yeah, I agree that you can't blame imperialistic views taken out of the context of his era but he was regarded as a social visionary and great human who stood up to evil, so it matters.

He was bullish, but so far from fucking perfect it's untrue.

Apparently Mother Theresa admired Hitler's taste in footwear as well.

    Quelle surprise.

Churchill was exactly the war leader Britain needed, alcoholism and all. Doesn't mean he wasn't a cunt about other things.

It'll probably go down well here. Churchill was local MP at the turn of the 20th Century. Although he changed party allegiance to win. Straight from Liberal to Conservative.

If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

    I still think that.

But really, I think it was very fortunate that he was there in WW2. Aside from that, one of those persons who could be wise in one moment and an utter twat in another.

I was wondering how long it would take someone to say that.

I was in fact not being serious.
    Sorry, hard to tell sometimes.

When someone spends 99% of the time pretending to be cunt you have to wonder if they are actually pretending.
