"It's pretty bad, 7+ years old graphics smeared with bloom and motion blur. Minesweeper taxes my 660ti harder."

"Kirk's head isn't big enough. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
(That actor has a really big head.)"

    "thanks for a game"

.. not much buzz around people downloading dodgy copies.

    /phew

cancelled my pre order yesterday, glad I did, this is getting panned across the board on metacritic (apart from the obvious fake 10's)

shame they have messed this up

I have a dodgy copy, which I played for a few hours last night. It's not the best game in the world, but it's passable. It's certainly one of the better film tie-ins I have played.

A lot was made of the co-op in it, however it seems mostly to stick to having to open doors and hack stuff together. The voice acting is decent and the plot seems serviceable enough. I'm not overly keen on the gun play though, which is a bit twitchy in parts and isn't that exciting.

If you like the film and lens flare though, you'll probably like the game. If it wasn't a a Star Trek brand game, it wouldn't do very well, but it might be more favourably looked upon because of the source material.

If, like me, you have a sort of passing interest in Star Trek then it's worrth a look. If not, it's probably best avoided.

Giant Bomb didn't receive a review copy. Both Giant Bomb and Star Trek are owned by CBS...

I don't think confidence was high on this one.

Oh, and you can sit in the captains chair on the Enterprise. Which is cool.

Mmm, I watched Giant Bomb's quick look last night and it really didn't seem terrible. Seriously lacking in polish and kinda boring maybe, but a reasonably competent third-person shooter. The animation is hilariously bad throughout though, and the Gorn enemies look like their textures haven't loaded in properly. Environments are quite nice though.

LOL! The devs have been posting on Steam and that piece of turd Metacritic giving good reviews and pretending the PC version works OK :)

This industry, and they wonder why people are stopping buying games....

I've given up on it now, it's a bit too glitchy and the part where you fight as the Enterprise has ruined it for me.

We're celebrating 75 years of Batman - and here's my look back at Rocksteady's Arkham series.

Sounds like a game a few mods might come out for in a few weeks. Star Trek fandom + PC gaming is usually pretty creative.

    + good gif that.

I'd never have bought this prior to reviews. Was there ever a good Star Trek game?

    25th Anniversary
    Bridge Commander
    Elite Force 1&2
    The Fallen
    Starfleet Command III

Even STO is worth a pop.

@Reacher If you're talking about the bit I think you're talking about, then yeah, I agree, that part was crap. I got through but I'll be buggered if I know how.

Wasn't Away Team like Commandos meets Trek? And GOOD? Never got around to playing it personally, though.

Star Trek: Generations was excellent for its time, IMO - a non-linear (!) romp through first-person shootey-adventurey levels playing as various TNG characters, intermixed with galactic overmap (basic) navigation and space combat. The best thing about the movie. I think. It was a bit simplistic even at the time, and I'm not sure how well it has aged, however... oh, and Starfleet Academy! SIX CDs! I'd guess that one has aged terribly, but the FMV was beautifully cheesy. Just make sure people fear and respect you. How did that not get a mention? Klingon Academy was more of the same, I think, so I didn't bother beyond the demo. The quite-good Klingon: Honor Guard had already given me my fill of boring one-note Klingon stuff (I don't like Klingons).

Bridge Commander is my favourite Trek ship combat game, but Star Trek: Online does a very good job, too.

Wow. There have been a lot of Trek games. o_O

I might try and persevere through it as I was enjoying the game up until that point.

I really fancy this on PC if it goes super cheap in the Steam Sale. I know it'll probably be average with a Trek skin, but I'm a bit more concerned about it being broken. Were those issues from a few posts above fixed?

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi
