Homes and other buildings destroyed, there have been deaths but no numbers as of yet and a number of people including fire fighters are missing.

Someone caught the blast on camera. The video is a little disturbing as there's a boy(?) that can be heard saying he can't hear after it.

That's what you get when you don't hold your phone sideways to record video.

Really fucking nasty. This is the housing that was just a little bit closer compared to the people shooting that video (who were in a school carpark).

    Fucking KABOOM.

Why didn't the dude hold his phone sideways though? The vid is not quite as impressive as the PEPCON disaster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ZOPP4ZBgnoA#t=150s

Going to have to watch it again, but sky news have the same video, but it is landscape, or edited. You can't see the wing mirror. The bit where he drops the phone in this video goes all black in the sky news video. i thought they were in a field not a car and thrown to the floor.

Unless theres someone in the back of the car filming the same thing.

That kid had pretty impressive presence of mind to still be talking so articulately though. If that was me, I'd have been screaming like a little girl.

Yeah, fair play, especially compared to 'ermagherd' dad.

Witness Debby Marak told the Associated Press news agency that she had seen smoke coming from the area near the plant and had driven over to see what was happening.
If I saw smoke coming from what is essentially a bomb factory if reconfigured a bit, I don't think I'd be investigating...

When I was a kid, I remember whenever the local garage went up in fire. It had a store of portable propane tanks, like the ones used in camping/caravans, out the back. When they got heated they started going up like large, extremely dangerous fireworks. We scrambled on to the top of our shed for a better look :D

People are claiming that they could hear the explosion from 13 miles away. It must have been deafeningly loud.

Holy cow. I don't think anything can prepare you for the intensity of that explosion.

There was a big explosion disaster where I live now, a couple of months before I moved here. They had a fireworks factory/store in the middle of a suburban living area.

The explosion at 1:30 was filmed at distance from the roof of a factory that overlooked the area.
