It always annoyed me how they made Phoebe "normal" by the end of it.

HIMYM is quite literally the Unfunniest comedy I've ever seen. I just don't understand where the 'jokes' are.

Oh and Friends is great, certain episodes still amuse me far more than any other US sitcom has managed since.
    "Myyyyy Saaaandwhich!!?" lolzor! :)
I find it really odd that you find HIMYM to be completely unfunny, yet the "my sandwich!" scene from Friends clearly tickled your bones. That's exactly the sort of silly humour that HIMYM does so well.

Chandler, Ross and Monica were the standout characters. Joey went from very funny to over the top stupid, Rachel was always good but not on the same par as the first three and Phoebe probably could have been cut.

    In my opinion of course.

Wait, if we're talking non main cast then Elliott Gould wins.

    Asiha Taylor.

The show started off alright, but went wank when they started with the love crap. Twas no Peep Show, which doesn't need a laughter track.

HIMYM isn't funny. It's drivel. It's just beyond shit.

There can be no debate on this.

    None.

Actually no, the best character is Isaac.

Now, can anyone remember Isaac? If you do, you'll agree.

I liked Fun Bobby, purely because it led to my friend Rob getting the same nickname.

I liked that episode where they did some hi-jinks and then Joey said something stupid and chandler said something witty and then Phoebe said something crazy.

I think there was a monkey in it.

    How I laughed.

You realise you can do that with any show ever made though yes.

Fish fingers and chips pretty straight forward.

    yes.

I actually quite liked Friends back in the mid 90s, mainly because my gf at the time was really into it. Watching it again on repeats though and it does seem extremely formulaic and I don't think it has aged well, especially when up against current comedies such as the Office, Parks & Rec and Workaholics. Maybe it is me that has changed though, although I guess most of the people who liked it in the day will have changed too.

So an old sitcom has not aged well compared with some current sitcoms? Do you understand the concept of aging?

There isn't really a way to do these American length series without a formula of some kind, to be honest. It's another reason why Seinfeld was such an absurdly wonderful freak of nature.

I loved Friends until E4 played them relentlessly and I always found myself sucked in to watching episodes I'd seen a million times before for the millionth time. I think if I ever watch another episode in this lifetime it will be too soon. Let it rest.

    Phoebe was a shit character.

I mean that what we (or maybe just I) expect from a sitcom these days has changed, a bunch of good looking, priviledged normal people having on-off romances with each other has just been done to death. To be fair to Friends though, it was them who did it to death.

I quite like HIMYM but, like nearly everyone else I know who watches it, purely for Barney, I have no interest in finding out who the mother is or Lily and Marshall's relationship.

Chandler is not the best. You couldn't BE more wrong.

    I'll play:

Ross -BEST(always liked him the best. I know this isn't a popular opinion)
    Joey
    Chandler
    Monica
    Phoebe
    Rachel --WORST

When you try and break it down to who was 'the best' you quite quickly realise its more a matter of 'who was the least annoying'.

They were all wankers in their own way with Joey and Chanandler Bong being the most tollerable.

Rachael and Ross tie for the worst.

A quick glimpse of Ross's hair can be used a handy measure to determine how annoying he was in any given in any episode and how decent an episode was.
