That doesn't really make her a big star, just the only one of the six who's actually made it into movies. Bearing in mind we're talking about it in the context of six of the highest paid TV stars in history who literally had the entirety of Hollywood for their choosing when Friends ended. She may be raking in the cash by appearing in Adam Sandler movies, but that doesn't make her an A-List player.

It's only really Schwimmer who made any sort of success of himself outside of comedy. He was getting good acclaim on Broadway the last time I read about it, and is making a bit of headway as a director. But still, it's surprising where they've all ended up considering where they all were in the early 2000s.

    :D

She was in one Sandler movie out of the thousand she's been in. Anyway, I consider her a big star and that's all that matters!

Overall, I'd agree with your point. Sitcom is so different from movies that it doesn't surprise me, especially with such iconic characters.

I never liked most of them in the show anyway.

That list is quite surprising in itself, though. Taylor Lautner in the top ten? He's not even in the top ten of people I could name called Taylor.

I'm sure if you were a Twilight fan he'd be your number one Taylor.

I can't respect him after that Kristen Stewart incident. The big girl's blouse.

If "the affair" was a setup, as you had said earlier, it worked - I hadn't heard of either of them before it happened.

I would describe Friends as 'well made'. It has its moments, but there are scores of superior sitcoms.

The Big Bang Theory was never amazing, but in the last few seasons it's become a real of a parody of itself. You could see it was going to turn crap when they introduced Sheldon's future girlfriend.

How I Met Your Mother is offensively shit.

How I Met Your Mother seems to have one joke, every time I flick onto E4 and its on it has that Robyn lady making a "joke" about being Canadian.

    Boring as fuck.

How I met your mother is much better than I expected it to be. It has some clever moments and a good cast.

In the latter series it has dipped a bit, but it's certainly maintained itself better than friends did by time it hit series 7,8 and 9.

I can't think of a single current sitcom worth watching, tbh. I'm all about re-runs.

There's a new one with Leah Remini and Schillinger from Oz, aka State Farm Commercial Guy, aka that guy what played the Editor in Chief of that newspaper in Spider-Man (with Toby) that looks all right.

I don't know his real name, but I like him.

    @meme

    There you go!

Him and Leah Remini are going to be in a new sitcom. I was a big fan of Remini's when she was sub 250 lbs. Not that that makes her a worse actress, but I never cared much about her acting.

The whole set up of the How I Met Your Mother frustrates me. It is supposedly built on the premise of a dad telling his kids the story of how he met his mother, but decided to start the story 10 years before she is even on his radar and go on and on about all these other women he banged with the help of his uncle barney and loads of other things that he wasn't even there to witness.

Does he just sit them down each weekend and ramble on about another inconsequential anecdote from his twenties, breathing over them, while they sit there waiting for him to drink himself to sleep?

BBT had some fairly entertaining episodes, and some of the earlier season's jokes for 'true geeks' were pretty amusing. It's gone rapidly downhill though, on the rare occasion a joke is made for the benefit of the more geeky audience, the characters will immediately go into a thorough explanation, for the regular audience's benefit, as to why that joke was amusing.
The last few episodes have been particularly shite, Sheldon has pretty much gone full retard.

HIMYM is quite literally the Unfunniest comedy I've ever seen. I just don't understand where the 'jokes' are.

Oh and Friends is great, certain episodes still amuse me far more than any other US sitcom has managed since.
    "Myyyyy Saaaandwhich!!?" lolzor! :)

I think there's another season coming.

I wasn't thinking of cable TV, though. There are definitely a few good ones on cable.

Friends was great. The first season was wank, but over time they all developed razor sharp comic timing. The last few seasons were genius.

Yeah, you're all seemingly more tuned in to American TV than I am. I'd be paying $700 a month to see half of these shows.

Of course, I don't make use of the internet in that way.

What was good about later friends was that it mocked itself. Ross became an annoying parody character that I hated watching, much like Homer in the Simpsons at its worst.

I don't understand not finding HIMYM funny. I can understand not thinking it genius, but it's definitely funny.
  • Deleted user 17 April 2013 21:34:14
Genius in a flippant casual way. I thought Chandler was the least funny tbh. Which was ironic, because you can tell with the original season, he was cast to be the sarcastic funny one of the bunch.

@bitch_tits_zero_nine I think Aniston and LeBlanc were the funniest comedy actors by the end. Schwimmer mugged with bad lines, Perry was funny except for when he thought he was being funny

@bitch_tits_zero_nine Monica improved a lot. Phoebe was clearly meant to be funny but rarely was.
