I want this to happen. And if not, then why not? Discuss.

Because Minecraft, despite its basic appearance, needs a processor that's more powerful than a potato waffle.

    You'd think that.
    But you'd be wrong.

I dunno, I doubt it. Maybe the pocket edition? Even the Xbox 360 version had to be scaled down in map size quite a lot. I think there's virtually zero chance of this ever coming to 3DS, it'd be cool though.

Minecraft is great in 3D as well. I dug out an old pair of red/cyans for it and it works really well.

I'd take a version for Wii U. Slap the hud on the gamepad or set up a second camera to view construction from other angles.

Minecraft Pocket is pretty cut-down and terrible. Even notch doesn't like it, from what I remember.

Yeah it's pretty poor. The map size is tiny, you can reach the edge of it within about 30 seconds of starting. Also, playing on a touch screen is a nightmare. I suppose they've done the best with what they've got, Minecraft on a phone is a pretty cool achievement but I wouldn't put any time in to it.

Though to be completely fair, one of the reasons it runs like utter arse on the PC is because it's Java based. Other minecraft clones have shown you can do basically the exact same engine without alienating low-range hardware.

WHY would you ever play a game like MC on a portable device? WHYYYYYY?

    Serious answers will be ignored.

Because it's fun! I've spent hours and hours on it, and it's pretty good. Yes, the area is small, but there's still enough to get a town built. In survival it's broadly similar to the PC one as well. I'd certainly recommend it, with of course a caution on the smaller area to build, mine, and craft.

So a 3DS version could be quite enjoyable too. Bottom screen as a map and inventory, or even use it for a Metroid Prime Hunters control scheme (I loves that, but I suppose not everyone does). However, I don't think it'd be profitable so I can't see it happening.

I like minecraft pocket. But I really would like to see it on the 3ds or vita. Maybe the 3ds version could be similar to pocket, but with a few more bells and whistles thrown in. Look cool in 3d as well.

I've never played Minecraft, but it sounds pretty unique and fun, so if it came to the 3DS, I'd give it a try.

However, the "wouldn't work on 3DS" argument amuses me. You hear this a lot from PC developers through the ages and while there are certain PC games that use PC processing power in a way that would make it difficult, the great majority of the time it seems that the PC developer hadn't had any great background in console design and simply says that this is the case because they are thinking of programming the game the way the PC version would be.

It is similar to when I hear, "Why not just add online multiplayer?" to a local multiplayer game, as if it were as simple as turning on a switch.

Edit: Before anyone jumps on me, I'm well aware with what Minecraft is and does and the mammoth things that users have created with it.
