As a note of sanity, there was/is a fairly notorious head teacher who used to take the piss out media overreactions by repeatedly pretending to ban inane things (like conkers, that bulldog game, etc). The conkers one in particular made the Daily Fail shit its ring. No one got the joke. I assume this is the same thing.

Roald Dahl wrote a short story about someone getting killed by, IIRC, a frozen leg of lamb.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.

    Typical nanny state.

If they continue down this road no one will be able to buy triangular flapjacks and then where will we be?

More triangular snack foods are needed in schools, not less. We all know the only way to stop a bad guy with a flapjack is a good guy with a flapjack.

I feel that two-dimensional flapjacks made up of massless molecules are the only answer to this situation.

While laudable in its intent, I feel the schools solution is somewhat inadequate.

The obvious answer is to log all items that could be thrown, and require anyone using them to sign a form verifying that they would not throw them at anyone, and to read a short H&S note on the attendant dangers of doing so. This would also serve to absolve the school of any claims for injury.

EDIT damn TheRealBadabing did that one already :(

My school banned bulldogs after some guy broke his collar bone, they also banned conkers after some kid nearly lost an eye.
