So some dude on YouTube says "very legitimate" sources say it's called Ghosts, but won't name the sources... And IGN still run the story?

Jesus H. Christ, they just keep getting worse.

It genuinely sounds like that guy's taking the piss. I mean, Call of Duty: Ghosts is an awful name.

I like that they are trying something a little different for the first next gen title.

Weird name though. You'd think even Ghost Ops would sound better

They could call it CoD: Savilles Ghost and it would still sell bajillions.

Wasn't there a rumour of that game coming out years ago? It was Call of Duty: Ghost, and was supposedly a prequel to MW2. Turns out it was just that comic book series. Could it just be that rumour resurfacing?

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi

    Some Info

    A bit more

Hopefully the destruction is closer to Red Faction (or at least Bad Company 2) than BF3.

Fully dynamic destruction is basically the last innovation (I can think of) for FPS games, everything else is just refinements on the same basic formula.

Driftor's channel is quite good for CoD technical info.

www.hatchetjob.com - more than games. "Seemingly trivial, surprisingly deep"

An innovation for CoD would be introducing AI.

It's peak was about four games back in mw1, even that was over rated but at least was a good game. Certainly the last decent mp offering.

    @RedSparrows
Unless they plan to use Treyarch's mini-RTS levels, I don't thinks it's that much of an issue, I just want (mostly) unscripted dynamic destruction in MP. COD campaigns are pretty much on-rails shooting galleries.

(Most AI in FPS games are illusions, aren't they? In FEAR most of it was scripted or UT3 all the bots could see through walls and target the human player.)

Ghosts might run on a new engine

Also the MW series has ended.

I remember an interview in Edge with the AI designer for (the original) Halo, in which he said that basically the reason why the AI in most games is so limited is because the graphics & sound take like 95% of the available CPU power - and most of that sliver of processing power that's left is taken up by the raycasting needed to determine what the enemies see. Which has gotten even worse because the geometry has gotten way more complex from those days. Add to that possible lighting & weather conditions & stuff like that (like, say, moving in grass or foliage that's not "true" polygonal geometry) and it's not hard to see why things are the way they are (and probably will be for some because of the neverending "more shiny things" mindset) at the moment.

    @krushing
Looking around on the internet, apparently 'proper' AI is not really possible on home computers and very complex. Come to think of it, many other genres use simple or 'cheating' AI, like in Age of Empires the computers can see the whole map.

You're right, we're not going to see real AI in games for some time but they could improve the illusion of a good AI.

Anyway an image teaser has been released.

    Ghosts Trailer

The world-wide mass destruction from the previous games seem to have finally taken effect in COD's storyline.

And IW have borrowed Treyarch's use of dynamic maps for MP.

    AI for fish!

But seriously, I care not a jot for the story, graphics et al if you're still doing the same shooting all over again.

For all the flak it gets, CoD is actually a very good game. People love it, you can't deny that. I've never been a fan of the series but I appreciate it has a market. Battlefield is a better series imo and I think EA have timed it just right to have it overtake Call of Duty and become the next big thing. They're edging just enough towards CoD themselves to draw people in, but it still offers a very different experience. Between them, these two will shift quite a few next gen consoles.

I was partially impressed by the graphics, I love that they're one of the few to uphold 60fps.

If only CoD wasn't so bad.

edit: with "bad", I don't mean 2/10 bad, but like 5/10. Very most shooters are more fun, including Duke Nukem Forever if you ask me.

    New killstreaks announced:

3 kills - A cat runs on the map to distract the enemy and make them go 'awww wook at the fwuffy bunny' making them easy targets

5 kills - The enemy gun sound effects are replaced by random sounds made by Gilbert Gottfried, Joe Pasquale and Paul Reubens.

    7 kills - Concrete Donkey

9 kills - Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings of Sussex reads her poetry aloud near the enemy for 2 minutes

11 kills - The entire enemy team is forced at gunpoint to play soggy biscuit

15 kills - The enemy team get turned into kid girls and a sexual predator missile piloted by Jimmy Savile flies around about the map

25 kills - A message pops up saying 'stop fucking camping you waste of semen' and the player's console melts

If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

It must be horrible to work at Activision.

    "What did you do today?"
"I spent the day mo-capping a dog climbing over some boxes so teenagers can realistically shoot him."

That's a bad example. Getting to work with a dog all day would be awesome.
