I would rather UT were left alone than come back as some shitty perk/XP based wank fest.

I wouldnt mind seeing another Unreal, though, much maligned as Unreal 2 was..

    Halo definitely needs a reboot.

343 did a great job copying the gameplay formula, but the plot now is so dreadful on a surface level and so dependent on the expanded media to get to the depth that it badly needs a reset.

Metal Gear too. Revengeance looks great, but the mainline entries need a reset ASAP.

Streets of Rage had one but Sega clamped down on it.

    I would add:

    Silent Bomber
Ridge Racer (proper reboot in the original style not the unbounded side shift)
    Motor Toon GP
Mario Kart (as discussed in mk8 thread, widen scope to Nintendo not just Mario, more track variety and better weapons)

The WWE games could do with one.

Not so much a series as it was only one game, but I really wish EA would dust off Bioforge for another go.

Couldn't we just can them all forever and have some brand new games instead?

Some of those series have been so badly soiled by their later incarnations I think I'd rather they just went away altogether.

The SoR one was actually released on the PS1 wasn't it? But under a different name and with all SoR references removed.

IIRC it also had a sequel. Both were bad. I can't remember what it was called though, which speaks volumes really.

From Desert Strike on megadrive, to Jungle Strike, to that nuclear one (soviet?) on Playstation, I loved them!

I'll add Return Fire, the most fun I've ever had in local MP.

I'm baffled as to why anyone would want any more Turok games.

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

@kinky_mong The first one was cool enough! Make the jumping platforms more like Metroid Prime and it would be good (always so so hard to jump on the N64 version  )

Trouble is, the tech has improved now, and one of the great things about it was due to the restrictions, the fog worked in it's favour, making you cack it!

Creatively speaking, I don't see a need to re-create or re-imagine something. If you're going to do that, why not just create something new and different, and leave the original product at what it is.

For some of the above mentioned games series', I think the question is not so much should they re-boot them, but rather should they end them and move on?

As a stupid teenager I used to love the second game (probably because of the over the top gore) but I sussed a few years later that it was actually pretty crap.

I still laugh at the over zealous auto aim while sniping that would see your well placed head shot fly into the centre of an enemies body (or into a wall if the enemy was partially obscured).

I'd like to see the Legacy of Kain games finished off with a finale. Even with more than one game - we've moved on so much in the last few years that a new LoK game would rule.

As for your list, none of those really need a reboot. Half of them don't even deserve being called franchises.

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

    @warlockuk

I should probably point out that its not my list, Games™ have put it together.

I agree with their choices of Turok, Resident Evil and Unreal Tournament. However, i would much prefer to see reboots of Eternal Darkness and Timesplitters.

@anthonypappa I understand why some might like the idea, but it's not something that would inspire me. A re-make in some cases is better (like Resident Evil) as it only served to make the game look better/more atmospheric for the most part, rather than tamper with the original concept too much.

The new Tomb Raider looks decent enough, but is it really a Tomb Raider game? I know people could argue that either way until the end of time, but arguably it's more a reactionary title to current trends, albeit with a recognisable name and character. It seems less about exploring tombs and areas of archaeological interest, which is what made the original games stand out and so great in the first place.

I'm more of the opinion that we need a straight Soul Reaver reboot.

I'm currently playing Darksiders 2, and certain stylistic aspects are reminding me a lot of the Soul Reaver games. I'm hankering for a faithful reboot more than ever now, as it's really reminded me how special and underrated the original was.

I'd rather a return to the simple isolated exploration of the first game more than a direct sequel.

    Resident Evil definitely needs one.

REmake RE2 and create an alternate timeline based on that. Go Capcom. Go!

    Also COLONY WARS!

    Come and get it cumslingers!
