Actually, good rallying from the Lions towards the end of the first half means they look a lot stronger and have a bit of a lead going into the second half. But for some pretty good last ditch defending by the Queensland Reds, the Lions could have been up by a couple of tries. Anyway, half time is 16 - 7 to the Lions.

It was an entertaining first half that's for sure. That first Queensland try was a brilliant effort.

Well, Lions just about deserved winners there but Queensland Reds pushed them and it definitely was not over until the last few minutes. All in all I think it is good for the Lions to have had a step up in competition and effort and will stand them in good stead as they progress. Hopefully the quality of rugby is like this and better, because this was a very entertaining game.

Now that the Reds have raised the bar for the other Aussie teams I think it bodes well for the rest of the series.

Hopefully so. Based on what I have watched from the Super 15 the Waratahs might not match up quite as strong but the ACT Brumbies should be able to mount a similar if not even stronger challenge. All shaping up nicely for an epic test series!

I hope the tahs put out a stronger side this weekend.

It is pisspoor really for paying punters to watch such one sided affairs.

All that said - getting PROPERLY excited now. Land in Sydney a week tomorrow!

Everybody should just calm down a little bit and have a nice cup of tea.

Definite step up in performance from the Lions today. The 'Tahs have not played badly and have matched up physically and scored a cracking try as well. So, no pushover game like the midweek game which frankly is pretty useless for build up to the test. This is a proper warm up for the main course next week. Lions looking good and a good game all around. Hoping the second half continues like this.

I haven't seen anything mentioned anywhere so assuming no news is good news.

Very slick performance from the Lions today. Bodes well for next week. They still have a tough midweek game though but if they play like today that should not be a problem. Fingers crossed for no more injuries though.

Thoroughly enjoyed that. The pub opened at 1030, I got there at 1033 and got the last decent spot! great rugby from both teams and can't wait for next Saturday although I guess I need to get there at 1030 not 1033.

Not sure how its looking based on this mornings news - he's definitely out of the 1st test, maybe the 2nd one too by the sounds of it.

In other news, i cant wait to see Shane line up for the Lions on Tuesday! :-)

I've not managed to catch any of the warm-ups, can't wait for the 1st Test though. Shane Williams call-up is mental!

1st defeat, 14-12 to the Brumbies. Sounded a pretty, errm, industrial game.

Well, considering it was essentially the Lions B team and ACT was always going to be the toughest warm-up, it is not that surprising. The first half the Lions played like a group of players who had not really played much together. Second half when some of the main choice players came on, things got closer but ultimately ACT deserved the win. All in all though I would not read much into it as I think the first 15 are pretty much settled, Jamie Roberts aside, and Gatland was not going to reveal too much of his weekend game plan. It would have been good for momentum to have won the game of course but don't think it makes much difference for the weekend.

My money is still on the Lions but I think the warm up games have proven that this is going to be one hell of a fiercely contested series. Can't wait!

Agreed. But it does highlight the shocking choice to only have 2 fly halfs on the tour coming back to bite. Hope this doesn't stuff us up in the tests further down the track.

Poor Hogg - had no chance to orchestrate things playing out of position behind a very lacklustre front row (in the first half).

Fair play to the young Brumbies - some serious breakdown speed and intensity - the wallabies won't put too much store in it as the test side will be a v different proposition but will help gee them up.

All eyes on Brisbane on Sat!

Everybody should just calm down a little bit and have a nice cup of tea.

Thinking about getting a Sky Sports day pass tomorrow to watch the test, anyone tried it? I'd have to watch it on the laptop and I'd be VERY DISAPPOINTED if its a shitty, choppy stream for the 9.99 asking price.

Did not want that to happen but can't deny that was a stunning try. Genia is brilliant and Lions need to watch him...

Incredible stuff from Genia. Going to have to watch this ref too, interpretation different to what we're used to.

I'm doing it now over the 360. Pretty good quality: much higher res than when I've watched Sky Sports on it previously. Been no buffering or stuttering thus far.
