Precisely, it's not so much about the graphics but the fact you have actual HD resolutions, higher framerates and no screen tear, amongst other things.

    Torchlight 2.

Train Simulator 2013 is on offer at 8.75 today. Not as much fun as the truck driving game, but a bargain at that price as it features some expensive DLC.

Talking of Trainsim, I already have it but wondered if I bought it again as a gift (the one on Steam now), could I just grab the DLC packs out of it and gift the main game to someone else?

I tried that. It warns that you won't get a gift copy of the main game.

I bought it anyway as (a) I never bought TS 2013, it was a free upgrade from TS2012 - but it comes without much content of the paid version, (b) The price was good considering how much content this version offers.

Dawn of War 2 and Starcraft 2 are both excellent.

    FTL
    Frozen Synapse
    Torchlight 2
    Hotline Miami
    World of Tanks
    Planetside 2
    TW: Shogun 2
    Mount & Blade: Warband

All of those are either cheap or free and are among the best examples of how PC gaming doesn't pander to the lowest common denominator (as much).

@aeschylus The thing to remember with PC games is how cheap they often go can actually outweigh the negative of not being able to trade in.

The most you get for the newest games is around the 25 mark (a little more on some titles), this very quickly drops and after 5 months can in the single digit figures. I work in games retail and let me tell you, we rip you off when it comes to trade in.

If you purchase wisely and at the right time then you end up spending much less money on PC games. Of course this is balanced out by the PC being more expensive than a console though.

If you are new to PC gaming, go look up some price lists from last years Steam summer sale to get an idea.

Shogun 2 Total War is a return to form for that series and worth getting if you're into deep turn based or real time strategy.

    To The Moon

    Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Terraria (yeah, I know it's now out on PS3 and Xbox, but it was PC-only for over a year and a new PC release (version 1.2) is due out at the end of May/early June)

Dear Esther (okay, so it's also out on the Mac, but the PC version was released first :) ).

    @H1ggyLTD

You just need to buy (or already own) one of the Megadrive games on Steam and you'll get the hub automatically The launcher appears in your Steam library as SEGA Genesis and Megadrive Classics.

@H1ggyLTD seems like you just need to own some of the Megadrive game packs they've released on Steam and the hub comes with it?
