    Ohhh yeeess!

Fans of the world rejoice and punch the air!

Probably the last one with Mila before a reboot and another 5 films.

    I predict the following.

    1. A deep, dark melancholy score from Ennio Morricone.
    2. They will ditch 3D and digital and use old 35mm stock to give it that gritty feel.
    3. It will have more blood and gore than the remake of The Evil Dead.
    4. Mila will give her finest performance ever. Her death scene at the end will truly be tragic and heartbreaking.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

No chance. The Resident Evil films are massive in terms of 3D uptake by it's viewers.

It's pretty mental how successful RE: Afterlife was compared to all the others in the franchise.

To my knowledge it's the only one that had a great trailer with good music to boot.

It's pretty mental how they got sequels after the first one. Five films and not a single one of them anywhere near "good", and only the first one really hovering around "watchable". The last one was literally the worst film I've ever seen.

Rumours that Paul W.S. Anderson keeps making them just to stop Mila whining that she doesn't have any work are unsubstantiated (but probably true).

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

Isn't everyone on the planet dead or a zombie by this point? Or do I remember there being a space station at the end of the last movie? Did I even watch the last movie!?

I've seen all but the last one, because the one before that was probably the biggest pile of crap I've ever seen.

Before then I felt they were mindless fun.

These films - especially the last two - have been hyper shit. And I FUCKING love them. It's not good cinema, but it's entertaining. Stuff happens alot; sometimes slowly (once backwards) and things explode. It's like the 80s again, but with more 3D T&A. What's not to like?

I like my complex cinema, my meaningful cinema (Cinema Paradiso, etc, etc) but I also like leaving mt brain at home and watching zombies explode to the loudest soundtrack on earth.

There will always be a place in my heart for more Resident Evil films. Change nothing.

Yay! I got 4/1 at William Hill for someone to use a variation of 'turn your brain off' on the first page.

I like the first three (don't remember boobies?) and haven't seen the others.

I do confess to wanting to though and know I will eventually.

    I don't know why.

Sometimes I don't know why I do things.

And that makes me sad

I quite like them - good nonsense fun. And you can see her minge for a second in one of them.

It's because it was in 3D.

    RE2= Two nips
RE3= Two nips and some bush
RE4= Two nips, some bush and light frottage
and so on and so forth

ResEvil aside, I think Mila is a good action star. Not a good actress - at all - but a good action star. That said, I think maybe she's getting a little old for this particular role. She looked noticably worn during the last one.

Yeah this. It's almost the perfect popcorn flick. Turn your brain off and watch.

    Dangerous stuff!

    Come and get it cumslingers!

  • Deleted user 14 March 2013 16:22:32
It was her that played Jill Valentine I quite liked.

I've just started watching the series from the beginning after being shocked at how watchable the most recent one was (by shocked I mean, it's not a classic, a 6/10 at best, but it's perfect unplug-brain-and-devour-popcorn).

I've only got After-Life left to watch (I've ignored the CG ones). They are just slightly above average action films that can while away 90 minutes of your time in an entertaining way. Not high-art, but not everything has to be. :-)

Unplug your brain. Mindless fun. Somehow popcorn is important. 9/10.
  • Deleted user 14 March 2013 16:38:45
There's nothing fundamentally wrong with brainless movies (although I'd still argue these are on the "shit" side of that particular scale), but probably of more concern is that there are a fair few people who only ever watch brainless movies, and most of them watched these in droves. Less an "unplug your brain" and more a "brain is permanently detached" scenario.

I believe the first 2 (at least) do. Not much in the way of a boob, though - more like just a nipple.

I can't remember the last one I saw, they tend to run into each other, it had a boat at the end and Wesker I think.

    edit: ah it was RE:Afterlife

For a yearly franchise it's really not that bad. (2D)

This is true. I tend to enjoy most good movies of any type of genre (Holy Motors was my favourite last year), but sometimes it's good to watch something not terribly cerebral.

But, yeah, the amount of bad or woefully competent stuff I see people watching makes my brain hurt. And it's even worse in the music industry, which makes me angrier than film does.

I don't think it's fair to judge someone based on their music or film tastes. Not everyone takes those things as seriously as you think they should.
