So the BBC have finally given comedic genius Kevin Eldonhis own show called It's Kevin.

Starts this Sunday at 10.30 pm and it's co-written by Arthur Matthews (Father Ted, Black Books) so hopefully it won't totally suck because my love for Eldon in everything he ever graces couldn't take such a hit...

Sadly I doubt Rod Hull will be making an appearance.

Cool. I love him but he's a bit like mark heap in that he's usually exactly the same character in everything. Still remember him from the ultra mental skit involving plugging his dead baby into the central heating system

Big Train has still never been beaten as a sketch show. Genius.

The Actor Kevin Eldon scares me. Even when he isn't acting.

For completeness, here's the BBC programme page. It's on on BBC2 on Sunday at 10:30pm (except in Northern Ireland where it's on at 10:55pm).

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Can't wait for this, it's about time he got his own name on a show. Hopefully the 10.30pm Sunday slot means that it won't be pandering to too many people.

One of my favourite scenes from recent memory:

Looking forward to this, always liked him and Julia Davis is in it...at least in one sketch.
Loved them both in Nighty Night.

He's a funny actor but his own material has always been a bit rubbish.

if you have nothing intresting to say then you might as well just throw your bags on the truck and drive away

I liked it. I only paid attention to half of it, but the hitler thing was funny. And the guy who had accompanying music when he spoke made me giggle. It was a slightly more mainstream version of the sketches on Simon Munnery's Attention Scum.

The "not everyone is called Ben" sketch made me laugh a lot, for some reason. Nothing else did though

The Hitler one was the only thing that was even close to being funny for me. I felt bad for him.

Not just me, then. To be fair it had to be fucking gold plated to justify all the hype from his mates over that last few days.

    Poor.

I'm just trying to think, actually, what was the last actually good sketch show? It's so easy to just assemble "wacky" characters and be done with it. The aforementioned Big Train I suppose, along with The Fast Show. I suppose Mitchell and Webb had their moments.

I've recently been watching Mitchell and Webb on Netflix, after not really liking it when it was on, and its actually very good, if a little hit and miss. But yeah Big Train is the last great one for me.

I really liked Mitchell and Webb, the 70's bawdy hospital sketch alone puts it up there with the best of 'em. :p

I'd say Jam was the last great sketch show, although it's a little hard to call it a sketch show...
