Been wearing glasses since I was about 7. I have contacts as well, and three or four pairs of nice frames. I like switching around for different looks.

Once you know your prescription there are places online where you get can get nice designer frames significantly cheaper, often two pairs for one. And I mean proper nice frames - Armani, Gucci, Boss etc. Most high street places are a con and the likes of David Clulow are complete crooks.

If you wear them all day then they're pretty much the defining part of your look imo, so worth spending a bit of cash on. I do laugh when I see someone walking around in all nice expensive designer gear with a pair of 30 specsavers on.
Y'know, that rumour is starting to make sense.... :)

    :oD

Was just coming in here to mention Otto's 'earth-mother' glasses!

Been wearing glasses since I was 9. You get used to it v. quickly. New lenses / frames throw you for a day or two, but the brain adjusts fast.

    Currently rocking 4 different pairs.

    Everyday glasses
    Reading glasses
    Prescription sunglasses
Screen glasses for work (which fortunately, work pays most of).

Bifocals have been suggested, but I associate them with old people, so have avoided, thus far.

Also, don't know what you do for a living, but if it's screen based, then you'll probably find that your company will cover the cost of your eye-test every two years.

No, but I do find that they are a great disguise for my superpowers and I'm able to walk amongst your lot without any hassle.

It's the swapping them about for different looks that strays into that territory..!

If you think the same pair of glasses that you'd wear with a suit is going to work with jeans and a t-shit, you is well wrong.

Nothing. Its the facial equivalent of having a Tag or an Omega. 'WHY SPEND ALL THAT MONEY ON GLASSES WHEN YOU CAN GET A PAIR OF NHS GEPS FOR 10?'

Ive got two pairs of glasses and two pairs of prescription sunglasses.

You wear glasses every day. They are right smack in the middle of your face, so its best to spend a bit of money on them so you dont look like a cunt.

It's not really the same as a watch, as a watch is mostly hidden, wheres glasses are smack in the middle of your face, covering your eyes, in the exact place where people will be looking whenever they look at or talk to you.

I would say if you care in any way about your appearance, then your glasses are the single most important thing you should be concerned with.
  • Deleted user 7 March 2013 09:33:11
Oh wait, we're agreeing. I don't get the watch statement.

The point was more that gaylords on this forum will complain if you spend more than three quid on an item of clothing/jewellery then in the same breath spend 80 quid a week on games they finish in a weekend.

I command such authority when I speak that everyone looks at the floor. That's why the correct shoes are so important.

I've always been a bit funny about contacts, don't like sticking things in my eyes. I'm a nightmare with drops. Glad my bins are just for reading/PC use

    I really am.

And George Clooney is totes gay.
  • Deleted user 20 March 2013 18:12:26
I got new glasses today. My prescription has changed to the extent where I can't wear them for stuff like reading and using the laptop anymore, because it looks all weird. This is a big change in my glass-wearing dynamic (which was basically just "leave them on all the time" ).

Quite happy that the exam + frames + lenses clocked in at around $80 in total, though.
