It was developed by Next Level Games rather than Nintendo, not that they haven't done a great job of it!

A map is like comparing velocity and speed.

About halfway through up to this point, and by damn is this impressive, magical even. The animation is breathtaking and the 3D effect so well suited to the design that it often looks alive. If anyone asks try out my 3DS, this is the game I'll be encouraging them to play.

I'm still only halfway through the second mansion, sunk about 10 hours in so far.
If it maintains the same level of charm and inventiveness throughout, it could end up being one of my favourite games ever, let alone this gen.

Dammit reading this thread makes me seriously regret trading my 3DS for my Vita... Might have to re-buy a 3DS (XL this time)

I'm really tempted to trade up to xl from amazon.it just for this. Bought it in argos yesterday as I will be doing lots of travelling one the next bit. By God my plane journey flew.

This is Nintendo (or a 2nd party) at their finest. Great stuff this far. Grinning like a loon.

Can't wait to get more time in after I grab a bite now.

I ordered an XL from amazon.it a couple of days ago. Said I wouldn't carry on playing this game until I replaced my standard 3DS but its becoming hard to not play it.
Especially as my amazon order has an estimated delivery date of 15-17th April :(
Tempted to just go and buy myself one from Argos tomorrow. 18 more to pay but you also get a 10 voucher to spend.

Just finished it this minute. 18 hours in total has gone into it (that's including a good few hours of multiplayer, which is surprisingly addictive!).

What a game it is! It's what gaming is all about, fun. I was worried when Nintendo said it was Next Level Games developing it... their track record is hardly mind blowing, but reading the credits it's clear to see Nintendo kept a close eye on the development.

It's probably my game of 2013 so far. Great sound direction, graphics, puzzles, lighting and boss battles. Not sure why a few reviews complained about the difficulty. I got killed about 3 times in total, each against a different boss. It provides a nice challenge, but it is not difficult.

This game is great, I'm about half way through the third mansion and it keeps getting better and better as it goes along.

Yeh, has the Nintendo magic, each mansion keeps things fresh with new abilities, I think it perfectly paced for the handheld with the smaller missions.

I really do love this game, first game on the 3DS Ive bought in quite a while, but I had to cheat twice at the beginning as I got stuck and nored and now I feel like a moron as the solutions were staring me in the face. Still, it certainly doesnt hold your hand all that much

I cannot stop myself from returning to older levels to hunt for more gold and notes. Or hoovering random pictures in the hope that after 20 previous attempts they'll give up a secret.

Really incredible detail everywhere. One of my favourite details are the piles of bank notes. Proper, fat, neat piles of notes, hoovering them off one by one.

Also, Luigi is lovely. His face when he was told he could be as good as his brother was perfect. Who developed this game? I must know, so that I can find out what else they've done. Was Mayomoto in charge?

I'm confused. If I want to revisit a level just to collect a missed purple jewel, do I really have to go through the entire level just in order to save it? I don't want to play the whole level again, that takes forever! I just want to go treasure hunting!

Stated this last night, just completed the first level but it seems absolutely superb throughout. It's the little touches like watching the ghosts through a window that give it a little more life and dust falling off of pictures.

The 3D seems a perfect fit as well, can't wait to get stuck in properly tonight.

Coming to the end of the second mansion and I'm really enjoying this too although it does have a few minor annoyances. Can't help but grin like an idiot whenever Luigi speaks.

    "No! Bad doggy!"

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

Wait till you get to the boss then you can complain about annoyances.
Happily, the 3rd Mansion and beyond are splendid romps.

Finally managed to get my hands on this and blow me if it isn't the best thing on the system by quite some distance. Love it.
