    The multiplayer looks pretty epic.

SP looks Crysis-like, with the different, routes/strats for completing objectives. And I loved the Crysis games.

Holy shit, I knew there was something weird about Killzone that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Watching gameplay videos of the older games now and it's so bloody obvious.

I've only played the first few hours of KZ2 SP and the midget thing was one of the main reasons why I gave up on it. Got the mega bundle mainly for the extra controller but quite looking forward to this now after watching those vids.

And before some smart arse replies with 'well why didn't you just buy the PS4 and extra controller', the bundle just looked like a good deal

@neilqpr I think you made the right choice the mega bundle is the only one to offer a saving. So assuming you wanted the camera and extra controller you've then got killzone for cheap (about £10 i think) so even if you only play a few hours to looks at the graphics its worth it.

I also went for the mega bundle despite being indifferent about Killzone.

Singleplayer at 30fps, multiplayer at 60 is what I heard. Sure this was confirmed a while ago and I doubt it's changed.

Then there’s the competitive multiplayer mode which, like the game’s campaign, runs at native 1080p and 60 fps. Supporting up to 24 players across a variety of play modes, Shadow Fall’s multiplayer combat feels more agile and responsive than its predecessor thanks to DualShock 4′s many refinements and, well, dat framerate.

..and DF already debunked the 1080p claim, so I'm not sure what he's referring to.

So either Sony is fibbing or DF's preview wasn't representative.

I suspect the former, but it's good news if true.

It runs at 1080p like the campaign. The "and 60fps" is just stuck on the end there.

The single player was confirmed plenty of times to be a locked 30fps and 1080p whereas the multi player is 60fps and 1080p.

... think it is a typo myself!

So I did a little googling and this man makes the game and he says the SP frame rate is unlocked but never drops below 30fps while MP is 60fps most of the time but may drop below it in extreme cases and the whole thing is 1080p native.

*sigh* - I just realised the DF article was of course BF4 NOT KZ.

    They do?

Battlefield 4 looks like it is set in the Kuwait desert whereas Killzone Shadow Fall looks like it is on a Universal theme park ride with a variety of different environments.

... but gameplay wise, they look alike-ish!

you aren't even reading the article correct.... It says the single play runs at 1080p without mentioning the frame rate then goes onto state the multiplayer runs at 1080p + 60fps.

That's an impressive achievement given how good the game looks (better, IMO, than Battlefield 4 on the PS4 which only manages 900p60).

I have a feeling that Sony will be pushing 1080p (or as near to) as much as possible as it's clear at the moment that the PS4 has the hardware advantage over the Xbox One, which has a lot of 720p launch games so far (Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3, Call of Duty: Ghost and Battlefield 4) and very few confimed 1080p ones other than Forza Motorsport 5. FIFA 14 and Madden NFL 25 should be 1080p60 on both consoles but it remains to be seen whether Assassin's Creed IV, which looks wonderful on the PS4 at 1080p30 IMO, will be the same resolution on the Xbox One, given the complete lack of footage from that version.

If it wasn't for the fact that the Xbox One has the more appealing range of launch exclusives with Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome and Dead Rising 3 plus a free copy of FIFA 14 then I think I would have just bought a PS4 this year and used the money from the Xbox One to buy a Retina display iPad mini (which I really, really want).

The word 'unlocked' sends shudders down my spine. I hope that doesn't mean the game has *gasp* screen tearing because it is the one thing on the consoles that I absolutely cannot stand as I'm so sensitive to it and it takes me completely out of any game that has the issue.

High bitrate, 1080p footage of MP to download here, it's 540 meg and only a minute long and you'll obviously have to have a PC or other device that can handle it properly.

    Looks very nice.

I really hope this is good. I've never cared for this series, I played 2 and 3 and thought they were entirely average and didn't grip me at all, but I'm willing to give this one a shot. If it turns out to be a good game it could give the series a boost.

If they can take all the good bits out of the other games they should be onto something. For all the bullet sponge baddies, throwaway vehicle sections, terrible stealth and god awful online maps, KZ3 played really well.
