I just love it when things that are strictly from the realm of sci-fi suddenly become reality.

If I ever see anyone wearing them, I'm going to shout "GOOGLE GO SHOW IMAGES OF HORSE COCKS" and see what happens.

If it works anything like the concept video they released 4 or 5 years ago this will be the best invention in the history of the world. Give or take.

Worst invention ever. Dickheads with mobile phone in hand are bad enough already, but now you'll have pricks blundering along the streets with Facebook flashing in their eyes screaming at google to do things for them.

I don't wear glasses but of the people I know who do? *Always* losing them or breaking them...

    Also? Prepare to be mugged.

edit: not by me though. Thought I'd make that clear.

After watching the video, it seems that these will be useless for anyone who doesn't have either a wildly exotic career or a social life that sees them jetting off to go skydiving or snowboarding every other day.

"ok glass, I'm in the office staring at a screen."

"ok glass, I'm at home, watching TV in my pants whilst eating a twix."

"ok glass, How do I cook this frozen pizza?"

Maybe they could integrate the helpful element of the old Microsoft paperclip:

"It looks like you're having a wank, would you like me to image search something for you?"

Amazing read that, maybe if this takes off, in the future we'll have them in contact lens too. not as far off as you might think

First I've ever heard of this - seems properly future. Imagine sports and stuff with things like this.

We'll laugh about how the first iterations looked though, in 20 years or so!

    Not entirely convinced.

I know it seems awesome but until either its cheap enough for basically everyone to have (eg Iphone) you're going to look/feel like a prat wearing it.

It's only really useful if you're always wearing them, if you stick em on to check the time or google something then you might as well just use your phone.

On the other hand. Fuck me it's cool.

If this takes off, I reckon I might buy a google ad which reads "You're a cock. Yes, you in the dorky glasses"

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Yeah I'd buy one just for the cool factor.

  • Deleted user 23 February 2013 01:01:43
I'd also question its actual usefulness. It's one of these things that only seems worthwhile outside of work stuff (can see it being ridiculously useful in fields like engineering or medicine) if you live a very particular lifestyle.

Like the "easy ability to take photos and film" stuff and so on. The internet's already flooded with boring pictures from people who live thoroughly uninteresting lives that don't really need to be documented. Can only imagine how bad it'll be when they can take photos and instantly share them without even having to hold the camera or phone.

Cool and all, but gimmicky to fuck.

Would be useful to be able to look up directions without having to dig out a mobile, but yeah. Gimmicky.

    I still want one though.

I'd imagine it'd be great for life blogging,. One example is,it could record your day like a real life DVR, and if you miss something whilst you weren't paying attention you could go back and check it. Might be useful in the classroom for this function. I can see it being useful in meetings/presentations, the teacher or host could use a hand gesture to send out notes or a presentation straight to your glass.

Security services could use it identify threats, they look at you and an amount of data is displayed about you. Better be an irontight system or undesirable groups could hack it and label you as a threat!
