Heh! I have that too, and started to play through the GC version in order that I could unlock content in the Wii version.
    GC version still uncompleted.. :(

I also have a new, sealed copy. I strongly recommend not opening it.

Could be worth a small fortune in 5-10 years.....

Personal opinion : don't bother - tedious in the extreme. That, plus Tales of Symphonia and Golden Sun made me realise that actually JRPGs aren't really for me...

    @Ultrasoundwave

My original plan was to open it when the next Metroid was announced...
On that advice, I may just have to pick it up unsealed.

Yet, you play Fire Emblem which is an exercise in tedium (and simplicity)?
    Odd.

I hadn't thought about it like that.
There is obviously something about Fire Emblem that I find more attractive..

Maybe I was a little harsh about Skies of Arcadia, but I didn't really like it.

The oldest is probably Zelda oracle of seasons for the GBC. I have a fair few games still sealed but like others here more through simply not having got round to playing it yet. Although I must admit that once a game has gone some years without me opening it I do feel some reluctance. Especially ones that have art books, etc in with them. I'd be gutted if a few years down the line it turned into the most valuable thing in the world ever.

I have PS1, N64 and Dreamcast games still sealed, some rare even in an opened state.

Unfortunately, they'll probably never be opened, the astronomical prices some go for means that simply taking the cellophane off is tantamount to tearing up 30-70.

When it comes to crunch, I find an opened copy and sell the sealed one.

Think the oldest is Madworld on the Wii. It's only this generation that I've been buying loads of games that it takes me a while to get round to, but I usually do eventually play them.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

Seriously? I get home and the first thing I do is rip of the factory sealing and play it. You'd have to have some serious cash to do that with games. (Or get a ton of bargains)

The comment about buying 2 of things has got me thinking about doing it, as a hobby at least. Granted you wouldn't see any return for another 20 years, plus the massive drain of buying 2 of everything!

Depends on your buying habits really, there are numerous reasons why a game misses out on getting unsealed.

I still have a sealed copy of Tales of Symphonia for instance because I had an opportunity to pick up the NTSC version for a bargain price by the time the PAL version came out, I just ended up playing the NTSC version whilst the PAL version sat in the cupboard.

Heh, it was looking at some of the Nintendo Game & Watches that got me thinking. Some of those BNIB items go for serious amounts of money. Have to take inflation in mind etc.. Just pick a few choices items and box em up in the attic for 20 years!

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

That's it, all my old games (albeit not sealed) and consoles have the boxes and manuals but keeping new ones sealed seems like a moderately fun experiment for the next x amount of years.

A have a few games where I have more than one copy, all due to cock-ups on the retailer end where they sent me two copies instead of one, or where the first didnt arrive for weeks so they sent me a replacement, only for the first to arrive after all.

I've got 2 copies of Tales Of the Abyss and the Diablo 3 CE this way (the latter seems to go for quite a bit atm if it's still factory sealed).

Oldest game I have in shrinkwrap is probably Zelda 64, though I've already played that. It was a second copy I got from Woolies a few years before they shut down for a fiver.

I've also quite a few sealed DS games, but I've played all of them too, ahem.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Not really, as it's all been honest mistakes or postal fuckups, and has only happened 3 or 4 times in the last decade.

Jade Empire on the Xbox. I only kept hold of it because It's backwards compatible.

I also have XIII on the PC, but I can't remember what came out first.

There's a few things I have on disc but never opened, but that I just ended up getting over Steam as well in the sales for convenience. Does that count?

Most of them are bargains. If I buy a game on release I'll usually play it as soon as it arrives, but the bargains I buy get stuck on the shelf and opened when I've got a gap to play them in.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.
