Not sure about the order but

    CPC464
    Amiga
    Lynx 2
    SNES
    N64
    Gameboy colour
    Gamecube
    Gambeboy Advance (then SP)
    Dreamcast (as retro console)
    Saturn (retro)
    Xbox
    DS
    Wii
    Xbox360
    3DS

Want a WiiU but I'm a bit poor. First game I ever played was Harrier Attack, last game I played was Zelda OOT on the 3DS. Still magical.

I positively drooled nay coveted the microdrive addon for the speccy. I was also transfixed by the word peripheral, which adorned the dribblesome leaflet.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

    @mrpon

when i got my +3 it was like a the future had arrived. no more struggling to load a game from cassette, the tension i suffered because if the slightest breeze moved the cable connecting the cassette player to the Speccy the load would crash and i would have to start all over again.

kids don't know how lucky the are. games would takes many minutes to load then and sometimes it would take multiple attempts.

that disk drive was amazing to me. i was treated to near instantaneous loading, with a proper load screen and even music. i don't think any development since has come close to giving me that sense of a huge leap in technological advancement.

Think I started around 1988, so I've been gaming 25 years this year and I'm only just turning 30 in a few months, so not bad going.

Anyway, as best as I can remember the order in which I had them:

-Atari 2600 - Centipede was my first ever game :)
    -Sega Master System
    -C64
    -Sega Megadrive
    -Amiga 500+
    -PS1
    -PS2
    -GameCube
    -Xbox
    -Xbox 360
    -Wii
    -PS3
*The odd PC game here and there over the years too.*

Never really been into handhelds, but I did borrow a Gameboy for a good few months from my cousin when I was younger and I've owned a Gameboy Advance SP too.

The VCS was the Atari model. The 2600 branding came much later. 5 years after launch. So calling it the 2600 is a bit like calling an Xbox 360 a kinnect. stop it! :)

I swear to god, I had a game called dynamite Dan on the spectrum, that only seemed to load up 1 out of 50 times.....but boy...when it did work it was like winning the pools (can't say lottery because it wasn't around then)
Same but it was Brian Bloodaxe and The Fall Guy for me, bloody hyper loader :-(
Forgot about the hyper load, a better way to go deaf, with a higher pitched noise than the previous loading option.

And with the spectrum you got a book the size of an encyclopedia with different patterns you could make on screen by typing in basic commands.
I remember spending half a day typing a foreign language onto my tv just to get a swirly pixilated cone shape thing

    Spectrum 48k
    Amiga
PC 460 I think, got it for Doom and Tie Fighter, Ultima 7.
Quite a few PC's since then.
    First Console was GBA.
    X-Box
    360
    3DS,Vita.

People go on about Nostraglia, but been honest I get more fun replaying old games then the majority of todays releases. Been some great games like Mass Effect, Dishonoured, and Far Cry 3, But I would still rather play Baldur's Gate 2 over Dragon Age 2. This trend of online/social, DLC, microtransactions and all this other shite really puts off most of today games. People moan about Kickstarter basically been a way of reliving gaming's past, but there hasn't been an equivilent to Planescape since it's release, and if this gives a way to play a RPG with the depth that we used to have, for those of us who would rather play those type of games, what's wrong with it.

What annoys me most is it seems this day you have to fit into this standard box, the amount of people saying that gamers don't want more complex games on handhelds when the top selling games are games like Ass Creed 3 and GTA on PSP, surprises me. Used to be if you weren't interested in a format, you just wouldn't buy it. Seems now you have endless troll threads, delight in any lack of sales, and basically run around the streets naked proclaiming it's DOOOOMEEEDDD, in the loudest voice possible.

This looks like a good gaming year for me. Age of Wonders 3, Bioshock Infinite, Broken Sword, new Doublefine game, GTA 5, Wasteland 2, Moebius and probably quite a few I can't think of offhand. And hopefully Baldur's Gate 2 for Ipad. None of them state of the art, none on super x next gen kinect move or whatever other snazzy crap they come out with. I have turned into the grand dad sitting in the atic playing his ancient lute, but with the state of the gaming industry at the moment and the endless crap of fanboys, I'm happy closing the door to the world below and just enjoy some old fashioned gaming.

God no I don't need this thread to remind me of my age

Atari 2600 Jungle Hunt and Galaxians were my first games
Amstrad CPC464 with green screen :(
    Atari ST
    Amiga 500
    Amiga 1200
    PC for many years
Xbox 360 (3 of these due to RROD!!!)
PS3 (2 of these after the Blu-Ray died, repaired under warranty then traded in for a slim)

Although there was a PS1 and 2 and an xbox in the house they were for the kids whilst I was gaming on the PC.

I remember playing Elite on the Amstrad for almost 6 months solid and breaking my first joystick on the bloody waggle fest that was Combat School, being amazed by the sound and graphics when I first got my Atari ST and spending 1500 on my first PC which ran at an amazing 233MHz and marvelling at the cutscences on C&C Red Alert. It wasn't until this gen I felt the urge to go console. I got fed up constantly having to upgrade the PC every couple of years and the games on the console were starting to become more grown up and graphically a lot better. I ended up with a PS3 purely for the Blu-Ray player and I resented paying MS for the privilege of playing online although I pay for PS Plus as the benefits are worth it.

Did nobody here buy the failures? The cd32, panny 3do, Atari Jaguar or sega's 32X add-on? I even had a saturn and Lynx at one point.

The addiction started with an Atari XE and river raid.

Quite easily I would imagine, I only knew one family that had one when they were "popular" because they and their games weren't very wallet friendly.

I won mine, in a Walls ice lolly competition. You had to come up with a name of an ice lolly which might also be a game. Can only assume I can't quite remember my entry, but I do remember it sounding lame to an 8 year old, so it must have been poor. Was a pun on video and a race horse that had just ran in the GRand National. Something like Videoledo.

    My path went like this

    Speccy 48k
    Speccy 128k +2
    Amiga 500+
Amiga 1200 (still own it and all my games!)
Amiga CD32 (devastated me when it broke :( )
    PlayStation / N64
GBA / Neo Geo Pocket Colour
    PS2 / Dreamcast / GameCube
    DS / DS Lite
    360 / PS3 / Wii

That's not counting all the consoles I've bought outside of their lifespan, like NES, SNES, Megadrive, Wonderswan etc... Plus the PC. My wife hates how much gaming stuff I have because I've kept it all from the PS1 onwards.

    Mega Drive
    Game Gear
    Saturn
    First PC of a few.
    Playstation
    Dreamcast
    PS2
    Xbox
    Gamecube
    Wii
    PS3

Also there is a Gameboy Advance, PSP and DS in there but I cannot remember when I bought them in relation to that lot. And thank you to this thread for making me feel like a relative youngster :-)
