That is certainly quite the way to start a new page.

My V-Moda m100 have finally given up. I fancy a bit of a change, and all roads are pointing me to the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 over ears.

Anyone here have any views on them? I've heard a set in a shop and really enjoyed them for five minutes or so.

Are they any good for gaming?

@GoatApocalypse I've got Momentum 1.0 over ears, they sound excellent for music and gaming and are really comfy, great build quality too, I've had them for a few years and they look brand new.

Nb They're very bassy, I didn't get on with them at first after coming to them from a set of Denon balanced armature in ear headphones which had a really clear, natural sound, but they're definitely good for gaming.

This was A Good Call. I only really listen to metal and rock so the bass presence is welcome, but they're nowhere near basshead cans. The midrange is sublime. A little sparkle in the treble; maybe a little too much for some of the more extreme stuff I listen to. We'll see.

Separation is good - soundstage isn't especially wide but it is quite deep. Listening to The Devil's Blood - The Thousandfold Epicentre and it has the feel of an excellent, intimate live performance.

Very comfortable too. Maybe a tiny bit too loose, but I have a tiny head.

Buying Bose headphones off eBay. Dodgy? I'm thinking for warranty purposes.

    Any tips?

I know Sennheiser have a website where you can put in some codes from a sticker on the box and confirm its kosher but I don't think Bose do. They're a bit stiff on warranty in my experience too, I had the QC20s which broke a month out of the warranty and they shrugged at me.

Pro tip: don't let the QC20s get a dry joint if you value your eardrums.

I wouldn't buy headphones from eBay or even Amazon. You're asking for a faking.

I'd be very careful. Though frankly I'd also say you could probably get far better new headphones for what you'll pay to get those second hand possibly fake bose.

I'm even more wary because they're for the f-i-l as a present. Think I'll go official.

I imagine it's only risky with resellers, not when supplied by amazon themselves.
  • Deleted user 1 March 2017 10:01:42
Ahh, fine. I've only ever had decent experiences anyway with Amazon resellers (and I buy loads from Amazon), about the worst is they can't fulfil the order so refund

Yeah the amazon thing is odd, I have certainly read that the marketplace (Sennheiser especially) has a real problem with fakes.

Prompted by the friendly banter in the Switch thread, I'm tempted to get some bluetooth earphones. Preferably with a mic so I can make phone calls as well as listen to music.
More interested in earbud type things, rather than big headphone type things.
    Any recommendations?

A guy I work with ordered a pair of high end AKG from Amazon which turned out to be fake. The first tip off was that they sounded like garbage.

If you read the reviews for popular sets, they are either 5* or 1*, complaining about them being fake.

It seems like it's luck of the draw who fulfills the order on behalf of Amazon.

Anyway, yeah, it's exactly the same with aftershave, which is why I'd rather spend a few more quid and get it on the high street because the instances of fakery are so high.

I got some really cheap ones Al (Bluetooth I figure isn't going to mean high fidelity and they are pretty crazy quality for the price and better than the Apple wired buds for taking calls on), from Amazon as it happens.

I've heard nothing but good things about the beats x and, if you want to go fully wireless, the Bragi headphone are supposed to be pretty nifty.

Must admit I haven't been happy with the Powerbeats 3. The button operation often doesn't work, the earbuds don't fit in one of my ears properly and when out and about I've actually had multiple occasions where it acts like I've pressed buttons when I haven't - pausing and I pausing, messing about with volume and even bringin up Siri. Work well enough for the gym though, but a bit expensive for just that.

I'm honestly delighted with my wireless solo 3. The battery lasts 40 plus hours, the range is astonishing, the connection is rock solid and they sound fantastic.

Not sure they are worth the retail price, though and, honestly, I never would have bought them had I not got them through work, but they really are a great bit of kit, if overpriced.
