Is there any early buzz for Crysis 3?

I tried the beta and wasnt blown (away) by it - anyone heard anything good about the campaign?

As far as I can tell there's no buzz for Crysis 3 at all.

I think as soon as everyone heard it was still set in NY the air was let out of the whole thing.

Well the second game was very good, and this looks like more of the same. They've probably refined the formula a little bit and made general improvements to something that already worked well, so I'd be very surprised if they managed to fuck this one up.

I dont think the fact that the story in Crysis 2 was a massive pile of unintelligible horsehit has helped either. Who would want a sequel to a game centered around a schitzophrenic wetsuit?

Considering how much EA wants for the PC version of Crysis 3 I'll wait for that to go on sale.

    This space left intentionally blank.

Crysis 3 beta was the definition of "generic Online FPS" IMO.

All about the foppish blonde cyborg getting his revengence next week for me.

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

I'd be all over that if it was on a sensible platform.

Yeah, I suppose in theory I ought to just play the PS2 version that I bought years ago and never got around to.

I actually gave up on Crysis 2 due to boredom. It was just not keeping my attention for some reason. I think it was the fact the levels were too linear. The openness was really just openness in a wide corridor.

@Deckard1 That's good of you, have you thought about sharing the info with our friends in the Wii U thread?

It just went on too long that's all. The linearity is fine, Far Cry 3 suffered the same problem as this game, and that's open world. With Crysis 2, every combat scenario was the same, so it depends how long that holds your attention, cause the story is never going to grip you. You enter an area, scan it for enemies and ammo and up to three "options", and get past by killing, avoiding, whatever. It works cause the combat/stealth system is good, I thought it was a lot of fun. Each stage has three or four of these arenas, you get a checkpoint when you complete each one, and the last one will have a boss at the end. There's 19 levels of this, and the enemies gradually get harder. They dressed it up real nice though.

It does get repetitive. You can see how they tried to mix it up to keep things interesting, but since the gameplay hardly ever changes, it doesn't really work. I started to get a bit bored by the last few levels, and began to stealth my way past all the enemies, which becomes very easy with the fully upgraded suit. The game looked so nice, I just wanted to see it all. Good game overall, I'll be getting Crysis 3 but I'll wait for the sales.

You just described Crysis 1 as well there.

The crysis series is just a glorified tech demo anyway.

'Look at you, hacker: a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?'

Also Crysis 3 is sharing the Deadspace 3 problem - only on Origin, no Steam - no sale... ZZZZ
