Really interesting article about a great show.

Can also serve as a DuckTales appreciation thread if required.

    Wooo Ooo.

Yeah, I read that yesterday. Great article.

Although I probably remember the NES game more than I remember the TV show. I was more into Tale Spin.

That's just made me realise - Donald Duck must be some kind of retard.

Also Gummi Bears was the shiznit.

This Disney of today have truly lost their way. What I would give for a new era of talespin, Gummi Bears and Duck Tales. I don't care that i'm 34 i'd sit and get lost in those worlds all day long.

When I watch the made for TV budget CGI stuff they put on the Disney Channel with my kid, I'm genuinely sad for him that he won't get stuff like this. The quality of their TV output these days is miserable.

I don't know why they don't just re-run the 80s stuff, or even the classic stuff.

I think some execs will deem them unsuitable for today's audiences. Weren't some Tom and Jerry cartoons censored before being aired a few years ago?

Disney is a bit more wholesome generally, although very early stuff not so much. Certainly anything from the 80s will be fine I'd have thought.

This thread was quick to turn into a "I remember when all this was fields" thread. Not that I disagree with it.

Disney aren't scared of sending the jailbait out on their own channel.

Why did he hang around with Huey Dewey and Louie so much? Was the subtext that he'd murdered his own brother/sister to gain full access to their bottoms?

Donald Duck wasn't really in DuckTales, or at least he wasn't a core character.

Wait, wasn't Donald Scrooge's nephew? Who the fuck were Huey Dewey and Louie then?

I think Scrooge was their great uncle.

What the hell happened to their parents?!

They're all each others' uncles according to Wikipedia.

Donald buried their parents in his garden so he could nonce up the kids. That was never on TV though.

They're Daisy Duck's illegitimate love children. Donald pretends to be their uncle.

Clearly Donald killed the real Della, ate her heart and then stood in for her "looking after" Huey Dewey and Louie.

    But whatever floats your boat.

Does anyone remember the Game Boy game?

Kids have a boxset of this and they love it. One of their favourites and we can handle it so much more than the inane rubbish that is currently produced.

Yeah, they show it on boomerang or some such and they have redubbed the TAAHMAAAS! TAAAHMAAAS! OH MAH LAAHDEE! business with something a bit more acceptable.

Thank god they never showed her face or we would never see them again.

Also, if there are any parents in the thread that have had to experience the low rent cgi misery of the Disney jnr channel, you will already have realised that Disney don't do animation anymore.

They did a whole weekend of old 80's and 90's shows on the CITV channel about a month ago to celebrate CITV's 30th birthday, and it was brilliant. Knightmare, Fraggle Rock, Dangermouse, Press Gang, The Riddlers, Mike & Angelo*, etc. Can imagine loads of the kids who normally watch it thought it was bollocks though.

*Alright the last two were shit but they had to fill a whole weekend. They should have shown Round The Bend as well so I could see if the Triffids rip-off with false teeth they did still scares the crap out of me.

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

Yup, watched most of em - the only one that's still awesome is Finders Keepers! The rest have aged badly!

Duck Tales was the shit, why did kids shows back in the day all have kick ass theme songs and now they don't? why don't they make kick ass theme songs anymore?
