No, no - I simply mean that any correspondence was private and that no fuss was made. His going was a surprise to me.

Settle down people. He felt he was sinking too much time here and decided it could be spent more productively. He didn't create a "i'm leaving I hope you're all happy now, you tossers" thread.
Just hung up his hat, walked out quietly and didn't look back. As you do.

No need to go bleating on about it for the next few days.
Hairygate probably isn't related per sť but I'm sure it was a good push to act on some sentiments harboured for a while.

Good shout. Desperate Hairy fans can still find him there I'm sure. Haven't checked.

    Unrelated to any of that...

...is there any way to stop thermally printed paper fading, or at least slow it down? I have a couple of receipts here that I'd like to keep for nostalgic reasons but experience tells me that you're lucky to get 10 years out of that sort of printout.

I've done that, but ideally I'd like to keep the original. Lamination might work, but I think I'd need a pouch that filters UV light.

Find a Dodo bird and squeeze the innards of it's still warm organs all over them.

Oh that's right, I forgot, you bastards cut down all the receipt trees, the natural home of the Dodo, and juiced them all for your selfish nostalgic and proof of purchase needs. Jerks.

Oh yeah of course you'll have to iron them first to make sure they're lovely and flat :)

I owned and ran a succesful thermal paper laminating company in the early 90's.

Don't try and tell me you can't do it!

Business was great until the introduction of the cordless drill and the explosion of sales in cafe biscotti, self explanatory really. Dark times for all of us in the industry.

I was thinking more of the pockets where you just seal the edge.
