Power's not off at home too, is it? It's be like that Twilight Zone episode where the last man alive has all of the books but breaks his glasses and can't read them. "No! There was time now! NOOOOOOOO!".

They must have been damn sure it wouldnt come on. We had one the other week and I was sat spinning my wheels for over two hours.

Then when the power finally came back on, a server had died..
Yeah it's a pretty big problem with the entire grid we're in. No chance of being sorted today. Looking like it might be the same tomorrow too by the sounds of it, not that I'll complain.

Works OK for me, and is faster than the original USB.

Was going for the joke on the presumption that you had misspelt the the acronym for Wii U Super Mario Brothers 2 (USMB2)

It didn't pay off this time.

Usb is weird. I don't like the connectors, and the fact that so many times a device that doesn't work plugged in in the front of a pc does work plugged in into the least accessible port on the back.

Its all about POWAH, which is why the ones on the back generally work better than ones on the front and why a lot of devices dont like unpowered hubs.

Nice to know, but srsly fuck usb.
I remember when usb2.0 came out I worked with slow ports for six months because in the bios I had set it to FullSpeed, instead of Highspeed. Me and my childish use of logic.

See, I reckon you you could correct for any refraction error with a pin hole lens. Sure, it'd take ages to read, but then what's the rush, given the context.

I sometimes make a small gap in my hand by rolling my index finger against my thumb in the shower (steady on now!), and that's good enough to correct my vision so I can work out which bottle is the shampoo and which is the conditioner.

Also, theres bound to be a pair of glasses lying around with at least a similar prescription. The whole premise of that episode is flawed. FLAWED I SAY!

He wears them the whole episode anyway, and there's no split where they'd clearly be varifocles. So he must be going about wearing his reading glasses all the time. That's just silly. A man that silly has no need of books. Heck, he usually wore a monocle when he was in Batman so he should just use his good eye to read.

The more and more this government say that I'm a sexist rape machine for reading the odd lad mag in the Barbers and watching internet porn, the more I want to find another country to live in.

If the lad mags get covered up, will the cover up men's health too?
Also, is it not the supermarkets rather than the government?

There's also the issue of hubs - I've got a few devices that just refuse to talk if routed via a hub, powered or unpowered. Unfortunately, unlike SCSI or ethernet or lots of other bus connections, devices can tell if they're directly connected or not, and be awkward about it.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

I no longer own any apple products... :(

Fucking chromebook and windows pc for now. (should probably add that the macbook pro is the only thing I'm gutted not to have anymore. Such a great machine.)

Ha, I am actually returning my chromebook and saving up for a macbook air (now the cheapest macbook you can buy) but I've left the box 300 miles away so am stuck with it for the next two weeks. It's just so incredibly slow and laggy. For a computer built around a Web browser I at least expect websites not to take an age to load all the time.
  • Deleted user 31 July 2013 23:26:38
If my computer tells me middle aged house wives in my area want to have sex it would be rude not to click it. I'm not fucking rude.

My tablet contract is actually due for an upgrade on Friday. I'm currently debating whether to upgrade to the latest iPad or move over to an android one, which has plenty of its own drawbacks and benefits.

Tricky situations, these first world problems.

    Anyone got an android tablet?

There's also another option, which is the Sony Xperia Tablet Z, but I've not heard much about that one.
