So do we miss the time between 1am and 2am? In other words, an automatically updating clock would go: 00:59 -> 02:00?
    Presactly.

I have now been with my wife for 10 years! So incredibly lucky to have found her, she changed my life. We aren't doing much to celebrate, going for a meal is all. We now have a wedding anniversary to celebrate instead. This will probably be the last time we celebrate when we first started going out'. :-)

Lovely to hear :) Enjoy it, dude, and yes, keep in mind how lucky you are. I think a lot of people these days would kill for a happy married life ;)
  • Deleted user 31 March 2013 23:06:19
Yeah congratulations! I would love to be in one. Enjoy the meal.

Does it still count if she's dead?

I suppose it's probably a bad thing if you start to get pins and needles and numbness in your foot when walking.

Had one shitty week. Dad got taken into hospital about 3 weeks ago. He was 91 and has been pretty much bed ridden for the last 8 years or so.

Anyhow he was on the mend from a bladder infection and a possible minor stroke. Then someone didn't do their job right and he fell out of a hoist. Ended up with a fractured skull and arm. He died on Saturday. Luckily we got the priest in for the last rites and the whole family was present when he passed away.

The last response anyone got from him was when he briefly woke up and smiled at me.

We've been more celebrating his life as opposed to mourning his death and that makes it somewhat easier. Funeral is going to be somewhat awful.

There is going to be an inquest etc. but we can't do anything about the funeral etc. till tomorrow as it's the BH weekend. Still, his suffering is no more.

Could probably take out legal action against the hospital but we don't want to drag this out. It's been tough enough as it is.

Sorry for for loss, bm, I know you've had some time to prepare to some extent but it still can't be easy.

You're certainly a lot more level-headed than I'd be - there's no excuse for that hoist mishap and I'd be looking for someone to be fired. I appreciate that just leaving as it is is probably for the best though, just draw a line under it and celebrate the good memories.

I'm not sure I'd press charges for manslaughter against someone who has made an error with a hoist.

But very sorry to hear about your loss beastmaster.

So sorry to hear, man, I hope you are doing okay. The only thing I would say is surround yourself with loved ones - I've been through something similar and for me at least, being by yourself is the single largest mistake you can make. And it is a huge cliche but immensely true, time is really the only healer. You'll go through a million emotions and you'll try to fight them in many ways, but only time will make you feel better again. Stay strong, buddy.

I would recommend though, unless you know the person responsible was sheerly incompetent, that you don't press charges. I know people who work in the healthcare industry and they have tougher jobs than anyone else I know. We all have human error, for most of us it will just result in the boss giving us a slap on the wrist, for them it can result in someone passing away. Just a thought in any case.
