I think you'll find that cheese is a kind of meat. A tasty yellow beef.

I'm so fucking bored. It's my last day at work, as I'll be redundant at 5. I've nothing to do. I'm the only person in my department today.

Internet is on ie7 and heavily locked down. Can't even go on EG.

@Grax got to hand my pass to my boss when she comes in later. Then I'm going out for some food with my team. Also, the rest of the IT department might notice, but probably wouldn't care. Theyre all on the way out over the next six weeks, too.

No, it's because the blood in your veins has very little oxygen in it and it's on it's way back to your lungs for re-oxygenation before getting pumped back through your arteries. It's practically black before then.

Are you ready for today's mindfuck?

So Kim Philby, the central figure of the Cambridge Five, Soviet spy and generally a massive traitor, was actively reporting to the Soviets from the 1930s. Including WW2, when they were allies. In fact, he provided Stalin with advance warning about Barbarossa (which was dismissed as brinkmanship) and the Japanese intention to attack Singapore instead of Eastern Russia. This latter piece of intelligence led to Stalin recalling Eastern troops for the defence of Moscow, which was not only the turning point of the war, but a fucking close thing.

Keep finding out these moments in time which were a) tiny, b) random, and c) overwhelmingly responsible for the shape of the world we live in. Feels like one slip and everything we know doesn't exist.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Literally in some cases. I mean, imagine if Mr Hitler Senior had pulled out and finished on her tits on that fateful night.

The reason Hitler was so cruel and bitter is because all his life, he had time travelers from the future trying to kill him.

Cheerful article about the likely hood of annihilation from weapons of mass destruction from Chomsky, but kind of my thoughts when we are so eager to piss off and threaten Russia even today here

Just paid my credit card bill and realised that I could have bought a new pc instead of the random stuff I've bought over the last month! While I don't get in debt and always pay it off every month, it is just so easy to buy stuff that you like but don't really need/won't even necessarily use right away/any time soon/ever. I'd estimate 60% of the stuff I bought this month was in the 'not essential' category. Need to be more focused and buy less random stuff and bargains. I made a big effort this year to declutter and get rid of tons of stuff but things have crept back a bit in the last couple of months.

Our street is in a nice (enough) area but used as a cut through for drunk people coming back from town occasionally.

Just drifting off to sleep last night, windows open when, blurted out at full volume came:

"... nah no way it catches from there."

"Yeah, you lick a cunt you got chlamydia in your mouth innit."

    Sweet dreams!

This isn't actually true - it's what everyone seems to think, but blood is always red, when it's deoxygenated it's just more faded.
