@zoolophage I hope you do, but not too soon. I think i've over done it today lol. A good tip though. Do the breach challenge. You get 10 million for it, and aftwerwards you can get a free ball by hitting the joust hole. If that makes sense. Both my highscores have included 5 balls in total. Not 3.

Right. I don't think I can recommend the Classic Zen pack to anybody. El Derado, as i've said a number of times, is brilliant. However, Shaman, Tesla and V12 aren't all that good. Shaman is way too simple and even more repetitive. It's far too easy to loose the ball, too. Even if you can set up ball savers.

With Tesla it's much easier to keep the ball in play, but there's still not much to do. I find I mostly lose the ball on the only challenge that offers a decent reward and so it's not one i've come back too that often.

V12 is the most interesting of the 3, with many more lower scoring challenges and some interesting extras. The car upgrades increase the scores you get for hitting the ramps, but like Shaman you lose the ball so easily. I've got a high score of 22 million, which is apparently the third best, overall. However, 9 times out of 10, I lose all 3 balls before i've even hit a million. It's so random it feels unfair.

It's a damn shame you can't get El Derado seperately, as it's worth a bash. As good as Excalibur and Earth Defense. The other 3 tables will either bore you or frustrate you.

I thought Tesla was not bad, although I've only played it a couple of times. It's clear that the tables in the Classics pack are on the more simple side of things. I'll probably never play Shaman again, but I can see myself playing the other 3 from time to time. However, I agree with you that it's not particularly £7.99 well spent.

I've found myself enjoying the X-Men table a bit more than I did previously. I've cooled slightly on the PvZ table. Despite there appearing to be a lot going on, it's actually quite a simple table. There are several types of multiball challenge which are fun but I'm fast losing interest in it. It's a very hard table to get started on and seems very slow to reward the player with points. You can keep the ball in play for a (very) long time but not really rack up anything much scorewise. Shooting the flowerpot is rather difficult too. I'd rated the PvZ table about 8/10 when I first played it...now I feel it's more like 6/10. There is a lot less going on in the table than there at first glance appears (imo).

Maybe I just need to understand more about the various modes and I'd enjoy it more.

@aeschylus will add you when I get in after work tonight...need someone to beat my hulk and epic quest top scores. Still trying to improve my scores on other tables but its not really happening.

Anyone got any tips for Fear Itself? I don't really understand how the magnets work.

    Re: Fear Itself magnets

Its been a while but off the top of my head Ė you can force the ball through the spinner via a well timed hit from the top right flipper or sometimes it just goes in by luck. Everytime this happens the magnets fling it round the loop. Do this enough times and chaos multiball starts.

There is also a ĎWorthyí mission where you have to manually activate the magnets to get the ball to constantly rotate around the table. Once you have the timing down itís a doddle. Left trigger just before the first set of magnets and right trigger when the ball is at the bottom of the table, just a quick tap.

General tip for a high score is either reach wizard mode or combine the raft bonus with a high multiplier.
For example a raft bonus of say 5 million with a multiplier of x25 is 125 million Ė take that to a maximum multiplier of x250 and a higher raft bonus and the scoring possibilities are massive.

NB: All based on Xbox 360 version.

Hit 265 million on the Captain America table last night (well 3:30am to be precise) I'm currently the top overall scorer on that table.

    @Sid-Nice

How long did that take you? I've found that the only 'problem' with playing tables that I'm quite good at is that a single game can take 30+ minutes. What was a pick up and play game has now become a fairly lengthy gaming session for some tables.

I'm trying to improve my lower scores rather than spend ages trying to beat my personal high scores. I have now spent more time on Zen than any other Wii U game.

I was on bloody ages; you have to defeat Captain America's nemesis and complete all of the relevant challenges, completing Sparring, Ray Gun and the Toxic spillage (whatever it is called) fight a big red robot etc. You continue to hit the Captain America sphere and other battles occur; on completion it all starts all over again. I need to get back on the table to memorise the names of the characters and challenges.

Edit: Great fun though; it was like taking part in a pinball movie. :)

@aeschylus sent you a friend request as didn't seem to receive anything from you. Can see you on my list now. Happy pinballing!

@Sid-Nice Beat your Earth Defence score and have just seen that you beat me right back again! Gonna have to up my skills a bit more...200 mil seems doable, I reckon.

Has it been confirmed whether the Star Wars tables will be coming as downloads on the Wii U yet? I want to start buying some tables but would prefer them all to be in one place on one platform.

Or have I got my pinball games mixed up?

@MatMan562 Iíve checked the Zen Studios website and there is no mention of a Wii U release date for the Star Wars pack. Obviously with the Wii U only just receiving Zen Pinball 2 (31st of Jan Europe/ Feb US) and with 27 tables available, I think Zen Studios will be holding back on the Star Wars bundle to make as much as possible out of the current tables.

I've got to say, Excalibur is a COMPLETELY different table in this game. It's so much easier to hit the angles you need, making challenges a lot easier to accomplish. Not only that, but getting the multiball is far more difficult. So much so, i've yet to get it once. Still, I got myself a respectable 48 million, which puts me 14th overall at the minute. Can't recommend this table enough.
Thanks for writing this. Reflects my experience with the table perfectly! I did get Multiball once in almost 3DS-like time and maybe 3 times overall, but generally aim for the Challenger and Extraballs (plus sometimes the siege), playing the other mini-games when they occur incidentally.

If the gameplay were the same between the two versions, I'd probably have skipped this table altogether. Now it's my favourite on both versions. :)

Edit: any tips on Joust? Never won even one round on Wii U.

You want to time it so the ball hits the drop target at that exact moment the joust icon reaches it too, so fire the ball just before it gets there, if that makes any sense. I can win the novice tournament, but that's about it.

There's a ball in Joust? Seriously, I never noticed it, neither on the 3DS version. :)
I read up on the minigame and what helped me was a hint to look for the gap between the light and the shield to be two units wide, then press A. Could win the novice tournament in the last three games now! I guess the timing needs to be adjusted for the higher tournaments.

Apparently Zen Pinball 2 is still to be released in the US; the game was due to launch on February 14th and for some reason, the game has been delayed. Hopefully when we have enough users weíll start to get the weekly online tournaments.

I highly recommend the Sorceror's Lair table to anyone who hasn't tried it yet. I get a very Excaliburish vibe from it. There are several off table videos modes and various multiball modes. It takes a little while to get into it and understand how it works but once you do, it's really enjoyable. Could do with a little more competition as at present only Sid-Nice and myself have the table (as far as I can tell from those who are on my friend list).

@Raiko101 Once you can reliably shoot the ramps during combat, it's very easy to defeat the monsters. There are just so many ways to score on the table that to score 100 mil+ is pretty easy. Plus there are some massive bonuses to be had that hugely increase your score.

I agree the only problem I have with the Sorcererís Lair table is the irritating voices. The problem I have is Iíve purchased 13 tables and Iím not dedicating enough time to each table individually. Iím frightened to go back on the Captain America table as I could end up having a long session instead of a quick blast.

Iíve got both (trophies/awards) on Sorcererís Lair after completing the Whisper Story Mode: I predict a huge score in the near future if my concentration levels are up to scratch.

What I've been doing is playing less on tables where I'm top of the friend list score and concentrating on tables where I'm lagging behind. I made some modest progress on Infinity Gauntlet and PvZ this weekend. I find the missions on IG rather challenging but at least understand more about how they work now.

If you just play the tables you're good at, a single game can easily take 30+ minutes, so its better to challenge yourself on the tables where you're lagging behind.

I'm hopelessly addicted to the PvZ table but a bit shit at it. I can regularly get around 10,000,000 but I really have no idea what's going on. Any pointers for getting a decent score? I've got the 5,000,000 bonus a couple of times for killing the 18 zombies but what the hell am I supposed to do with the American footballer or the underground digger things?
