The second episode of this was again very good. I think it has the potential to fill a Breaking Bad hole when that ends later this year.

    Very highly recommended so far.

It's okay. Still not really involving me. And I eyerolled when In The Air Tonight started playing in Episode 1, as they're driving slowly and silently towards something. Not only did it feel horrendously out of place, they're also homaging something that did it better in the first place.

Its more of a 2nd rate "fun" type of show to me than the likes of Breaking Bad which is very self serious and has a much heavier overarching tone as well as many more deeply unpleasant characters.

This is sort of like Chuck, but more serious.

I was thinking Alias, but Chuck works too. I was hoping it would be more like Rubicon, but as that didn't very well on the same network I'm not surprised it isn't. Bit disappointed with it so far, no real interesting characters and the missions are already too "big" for me.

Good so far, but no one is particularly likeable which works at the minute but if they keep bullying poor families and trying to destroy the world it may become a little bit tiresome. Love the 80s'ness of it all, the opening scene of the pilot with the loop of Tusk was superb.

Favourite non-comedy show at the moment. Love it. The "bullying poor family" thing was significant, not just a throwaway plot device.

I don't think you're meant to 'like' anyone, the Jennings especially as they're still KGB agents at the end of the day who will do whatever it takes to get the job done - a devotion to the cause that will get more and more tested as the seasons goes on.

Not sure it deserves the "destroy the world" hyperbole either...

Sorry, I'll try and be succinct and straight to the point in future to avoid any misunderstandings.

What is getting misunderstood? I'm allowed to just disagree with you, right?

No, I meant I do like it a lot and my descriptions were half arsed as I am on a mobile and couldn't be bothered to type too much

One thing I will say is that this perhaps suffers from the fact that you presume nothing bad will ever happen to the Jennings. And since they're on screen almost all of the time, that sort of removes some of the tension in certain scenes.

It's not a show like say Spartacus, for which all the main characters could conceivably be killed off at any point.

The same could be said of Breaking Bad in a way.

God dammit I though that they'd screened the next ep early when I saw this thread had updated!

I find it more and more compelling every week, and come on, any programme with John Boy Walton in should be immediately the best show ever :D

If only the characters said lines like "I'll be back".

The last episode was fantastic. Several plot strands from the first four episodes were very nicely addressed, but more than that it was brilliantly fast paced and damned exciting too.

    Top stuff.

The second season has also had an early greenlight which is nice news.

So, this just gets better and better. Is nobody here watching this? It's a shame if not, as you're all missing one the the best written and acted shows on TV at the moment.

Also, it has JohnBoy from The Waltons on it and he's pretty godamn badass.

    Beautiful tender beings.

I want to get into it, but there's just something about it that makes me lose focus and interest. I dunno. Maybe I was expecting something more political than drama. My wife still watches it, though.

So, like almost every show on TV then, really?

It gets much better as strands are tied together in the fourth.

Just watched the penultimate episode of the season last night, we're on for a hell of a finale I think.

Syrette is also a bit wrong as some of the supporting cast have already bitten the bullet. The tension is just fine.

Decent season finale, kind of predictable though.

Intrigued to see what happens with Prince now they've struck a deal with him, and the whole double crossing thing with Nina against Beeman too. She'll either betray the Russians or get caught in the act by Beeman. Wonder what'll happen to Claudia/Granny too.

Not really wrong - I was referring more to the Jennings, the Beemans, Martha, Claudia, Nina and Gaad who are more 'main' than the listed 'supporting' characters, although this is subjective.

Well, just finished watching that first ep on standard telly.

Funnily enough, I rather enjoyed it. Guess I'll be lining up the rest of the season over the week, especially as I can see ITV shafting it's schedule at some point.
