Arnie now has a dodgy ticker. Thats the thing with steroids, they tend to fuck you up.

Its difficult to see how hes gonna be able train at the levels needed for him to pile the muscle back on.

On topic, for me the ordering goes:

    T2>T1>T3>T4

I honestly didn't hate T3 as much as most people seem to. It was completely unnecessary, and do have some cheesy humour at times, but it had good action scenes, decent effects, and Kristana Loken was hot. She can't act, but when was that a prerequisite to play a Terminator?

Terminator Savatuon had do much potential. A new trilogy, set in the future (we all loved the future "flashbacks" in the original movies) with a pretty decent cast. It was neutered by attempts to get is a 12 certificate and a lack of the large scale guerrilla warfare I wanted to see. It also didn't feel all that futuristic compared to the scenes in T1 and T2. A massively squandered opportunity.

Better to say nothing and be considered a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt

Whilst it's understandable that people were annoyed that it didn't look like how it was depicted in the earlier movies, the thing everyone overlooks is that future scenes in T1/2 were set in 2029. Salvation is set in 2018.

@meme Fair comment. Still didn't like the film, but I accept that the flashbacks were set further in the future.

As an aside, reading my post back, it's full of typos. Wrote it on my iPhone so please don't call the grammar police in me ;-)

Late to the party, is this new film not continuing the salvation line?
I really liked salvation and would like that confined.

Need to watch t2 again along with predator and aliens, 3 10/10 movies.

Terminator 5 has a title, and it's Terminator: Genesis.

Maybe it was because I had low expectations going into Terminator 3, but I didn't think it was that bad!

... the scene with the fire engine (?) whereby Arnie was hanging off the swinging ladder was just as good as some of the big action sequences in Terminator 2. The ending was abrupt and the female Terminator - whilst easy on the eye - was not overly threatening, especially compared to the blank faced, emotionless and menacing Robert Patrick.

Be interesting to see where the series goes from here onwards however, just like I did with the third outing, it would be wise to keep your expectations low.

Still the best cinema experience for me, from way back when. There are better films, but T2 was just magic.

@Steve_Perry I would guess you are glad this scene was cut then.

    Comedy

It really plays totally for comedy and feels completely out of place in a Terminator film. It kind of gives you an insight into the makers of the film and where they were coming from.

I actually still quite like T3 though. It has some great actions scenes and from the point Skynet takes over it actually changes tone completely and the actual ending is great.

With this new film, have the writers decided to just ignore Salvation?

There's been all kind of stories going around. This time it'll feature a teen Sarah Connor apparently. Make of that what you will.

What timeline this will set in is anyone's guess.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

They should do avatar-esque cgi Arnie. He can then just do voiceover and facial reference material.

    It's the only way.

Eddie Furlong will be the father of Teen Sarah Connor. Kyle Reese is the drunk uncle and T1000 is Santa.

Think Home Alone meets Letters from Iwo Jima with robots and you are halfway there.

IMHO the only way forward for this franchise now is a reboot.
