    Hmm, might work in theory then. I missed the beta, hopefully there will be a demo of some kind.

    actually it seems really reasonable requirements wise. THe Mac version runs on an HD3000!

    I should mention that plots 1, 10, 12 and 17 are Great Works sites, not city plots.

    Yes that's right. The railway and highway systems at regional level are already in place from the start, so each city plot has a pre-determined connection to both. However obviously you lay down rails and roads connected to these inside your own city and do as you please. As for bridges, some plots have rivers/lakes/ocean in them dividing the city so this will require bridges ofc.

    Is anyone waiting for the Mac release? I use a Mac Mini (2011 spec, 2.5Ghz, 8GB, Radeon 6630M) but to be honest I've got little knowledge of hardware, the system requirements mention at least an nVidia 9400M or Intel HD3000. My understanding is that I should be fine, does my spec appear to be borderline or should it be quite comfortable?

    You can basically ignore minimum requirements.

    Regards to your spec i would imagine ok, but depends on mac optimisation for that i have no idea.

    Known as 'Sharzam' in 98.5% of games

    Im not waiting for a Mac release as I will be playing it on the PC I built a few months back, but it would be nice to play a bit of SimCity when I go somewhere with my MacBook Pro, assuming EA are nice enough to let me play on it without buying a Mac version, and assuming I tolerate Origin's presence on my laptop.

    I think you will be fine with that spec, its better than 90% of the 500-600 laptops released since, and EA will have factored the recent explosion of popularity for Intel's HD graphics chips in laptops across the board, which are weaker than your Radeon.

    Absolutely. I won't be enabling the Heroes and Villains stuff. Not at the start anyway. I'm looking forward to playing SimCity, not The Incredibles!

    Yup, totally agree. I just want to build stuff and stick sign posts up. That's Sim City for me in a nutshell.

    A vanilla edition of Sim City would have been nice with the option to buy extras, or am I going blind in my old age?

    From what I gather there is only the Limited Edition ad Digital Deluxe Edition on sale at Origin.

    Sadly the always online nature of the game killed the laptop idea for me, a great shame as Sim City has always been a great way to pass the time on a train or something. To be honest I would happily take a heavily stripped down offline version, I just like designing cities as much as actually 'playing the game'.

    @secombe Yeah I agree. Luckily I am only likely to play it once I've stopped somewhere for a good few hours and have WiFi. I wouldn't play on a train or plane, for example though anyway.

    Its so ridiculous though to say "these simulations are so complex we need to upload minuscule amounts of data from your game to our servers to compute it for you!" It can blatantly be done locally, I'd respect them more if they just said "its to hopefully stop piracy". They are insulting my intelligence as well as questioning my credibility, I, who is actually paying them money, unlike pirates...

    ...they are lucky its so shiny!

    Thankfully I can resist it, it will probably end up being good but I wanted this game to play on my laptop as I travel around and that just isn't possible.
