I'm a bit puzzled by the suspiciously swift and repeated messaged 'there's no danger to health' being touted about over this.

You've got meat that no-one has yet identified the base source of. They have no idea if any of the animals involved were diseased and would only have been able to test a tiny fraction of the meat that's doubtless been kicking around unidentified for a while - I don't see how they can rule out a danger to health.

Really don't get why this is an issue.

What is wrong with horse meat? It's actually rather tasty and lean.

Heh. I have no issue with eating horse, per se. Unidentified meat in the shops is pretty bad though, if it was un-tracked cow meat the problem would be the same.

Considering most of it is lips and anus, I don't really give a fuck what particular animal it's from.

Because you kind of expect to be told the truth about what you are eating.

And, not least the fact that horse meat is forbidden in my religion, the seventh day adventist church of shurgar, so im off to burn an effigee of someone and shout loudly until a bbc film crew turn up

I'm kidding of course, having 29% of your meat be made up of horse when you bought something else is horrible.

It's a cultural thing about not eating horse, they love it in France. But yeah, it's the fact that we should know what we're eating really. And I agree, does seem too soon to be saying it's safe.

I've a strict 'don't eat what you drive' policy when it comes to food. That's why I won't eat cars, bikes, buses or women.

Aren't these just the 'value burgers'? Which tbh most people probably don't even know what the hell inside them.

I always like to know what I put in my mouth :S.

If you can't afford identifiable meat you're better off going vegetarian, that's for sure. Heavily processed meat is never going to be a good option.

Horse is actually quite tasty but since its not part of our food chain over here you wonder how the fuck it got there and it definitely won't be sanitary.

It would be like if we found cat in a burger. They wouldn't give a shit in china but we would be a bit more concerned.

End of the day, as long as their burgers taste that good, I don't care if the main ingredients are blood and semen
