New undrillable front door frame has necessitated a new wireless doorbell, and the one that's just arrived in the post works with MP3s of your choice.

So, what might your choice be?

Will it be like ringtones where usage of a beloved track might devalue it? We don't get that many (non-pizza) callers, so probably not.

Might just making a recording of me shouting "Can you get the door please?".

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

@orpheus Might do the latter one just to freak the cats out. Probably won't help with the stress weeing issue though.

@elstoof Weirdly, we do actually have a green door.

ZuluHero's suggestion puts me in mind of the start of The KLF's "Last Train To Transcentral".

We do have a baby in the house so probably best to stay away from the violently alarming sounds.

We had one with several preset tunes (aside from DING DONG) so I settled on Paganini's "24th Caprice".

the theme from the south bank show

Surely, the automated prank speaker phone is the way to go:

    /pushes doorbell
    /slight delay
/clicking sound (like you're activating speaker phone on your end)
    local's voice: "Hello?"
    victim: "Hello"
    local's voice: "HELLO?!"
    victim: "Local, it's me [...]"
local's voice: (like you're shouting in the background) "Stouffer! It's those fucking kids again!!!"

The theme from The Bill is the obvious choice, as your doorbell will double as an excellent burglary deterrent.

Mine's a bit more intricate than just an MP3.

The doorbell rings, which sets off a dog growling sound, then there is a scream, then a strangle type gurgling noise and for the final touch an automated paintball gun fires red balls at the door window pane.

    I don't get many visitors.
