Good film - often compared to U boat warfare and there are even some (deliberate) submarine type sounds in the spaceships.

Only thing I thought was a bit silly was that Khan is eventually beaten because apparently he thinks in '2D' enabling Kirk to outmanouver him. Earlier in the film he is described as a genius...

Yeah but sometimes Kirk punches aliens and shouts a bit.

Oh, and by the way, the music playing in Aliens when Ripley rescues the marines in the APC and then crashes outside is basically Khan's theme.

That's because James Horner has two themes - military and titanic.

    LIES!

    Can't beat IV.

That's an even better clip with the proper soundtrack. Good luck finding it though.

My thought: Start Trek II is shit. The movies only started getting good when the Next Gen crew took over. And that's not an opinion, it's a fact that scientists proved in some kind of test using Petri dishes and such...

First Contact is a terrible film (assuming you're over 12), as is Insurrection.

You're missing one off your list too.

Some more Star Trek nerdism for you..

Apparently there was a big hoo-hah in the Trek community at the time because word was leaked that Spock gets killed.

So they put in the first scene in the simulator room where he is 'killed' by the Romulan attack. An attempt to put people off the scent...

Only know this cos I watched the Blu-Ray with directors commentary only a few weeks ago.

I think Wrath of Kahn is the only actually good Star Trek film. The rest are either shit, or only good in a Star Treky kind of way.

Star Trek: The Star Trek not included.

Insurrection is the TNG movie, all the characters have their chance to shine, Data is Data without his emotion chip bollocks, It is for me the most faithful to the series than any other, just a shame that it was overshadowed by DS9's Dominion War Arc.

Is it OK to say that the reboot is is the only thing I've ever enjoyed Star Trek related? Is that OK? Do I have to turn in my nerd badge or something?

    I've read the Thrawn trilogy!

    1: First Contact
    2: Generations
    3: Nemesis
    4: Insurrection

And that's it, the other movies aren't really worth mentioning (they didn't even have the right cast).

My problem with Generations is they burn Picards family alive off screen in his opening scene and have the whole movie with him in a grump

Indeed. Hence also Kirk's snipe to him (and the second-guessing audience): 'Aren't you supposed to be dead?'

My problem is in Generations all Picard had to do is leave the nexus when they pick up Soren freom the observartory and arrest him.
