It depends on if those hypothetical 8m users buy enough games to force devs into action and start making some new software.

Sony could save Vita by releasing the dev tools, making personal dev licenses cheap and allowing app submissions in a similar fashion to apple.

Agree, and I must admit I am an optimist. But until I see those numbers it's anyones guess what is going to happen.

My main concern is that people bought the cod pack over Christmas, think it is sh*t and return it!

The CoD pack is the top selling Vita bundle on Amazon.

I know - this is why I am concerned. I must say I haven't played it and did want it for Chrimbo but didn't get it so my concerns could be totally unfounded and it may be ace!

Well, since people who buy it are clearly uninformed, maybe they don't have such discerning tastes as those who frequent here and will not be able to tell a good cod for the vita one.

Already have done. It's called PS Mobile. XBLIG equivalent that supports Vita controls. Same annual fee as iOS dev.

    No bugger buys them.

Its not, its pretty bad. Although its not as terrible as is often made out. I think it was time to give CoD a shoeing and this fitted the bill quite nicely.

having said that, i only played it for an hour so it may get worse.

Have you played it Dom? I have read great reviews and sh*t reviews and still want it. Want to know when Killxone is coming before I commit though.

There are a lot worse games than declassified out in the gaming wild.

It's ok. Fine offline in horde mode, even quite engaging almost.

Online is shit though as it's well hard to get a match to connect.

I think most kiddies that got COD will be happy enough with a COD game to play in the car or at Granny's house.

No, I haven't, I'm not really an fps person. I'm just going by the EG review in that matter.

If you have a PS3, buy that as it comes with a vita license.

I don't think the Vita is really old enough to called it a 'failure' yet.

@nickthegun aye, but I'd probably never play it on PS3 and haven't really got the space on my memory card for a digital copy :-(

COD MP is actually quite good, I did a short review in the declassified thread.

If thats the top selling bundle i'm not worried.

There was a big patch which ironed out the connection problems.

It could trojan its way into a few hands. With PSN+ users able to build up a catalogue before owning the thing, some might just splash the cash to use this collection they have amassed...

I don't know who changed the thread title but it's a fucking disgrace. It should read "was a failure"

There is nothing to fear from buying a VIta. If it completely dies and Sony drop support you will be left with the greatest emulation system ever made.

I love it for playing P4G, but I can't see me buying any action games or shooters for it.
  • Deleted user 3 January 2013 14:03:44
I saw LBP on sale in Sainsburys yesterday (17.99). Really want the game but decided not to buy it, for the sole reason that I have four Vita games on the go and a ridiculous backlog of games on the Vita I haven't started yet.

I was going to buy one yesterday for my upcoming travels... Didn't see any games that appealed to me. Looks like a great piece of kit, but without the games, what's the point?

Well, I've got my PSP with a whole load of games, just don't see the need to splurge 200+ on the Vita

The Vita is a failure because the average consumer cannot see either:
    A. Point in it compared to an iPad / iPhone
    B. Buying this expensive games console over the 3DS.

I wish this was not the case is the Vita is currently my favourite gaming device.
  • Deleted user 3 January 2013 14:21:17
My sister was going to get a VITA for my nephew for Christmas. He's 7 and had seen one somewhere and begged for it. I told her not to waste her money and to instead buy him an iPad mini for cheaper games and the educational value it will bring.

She did, and he loves it.
