aww.. They should give him a space burial like Gene Roddenberry.

Wikipedia tells me they're planning another mission to launch more of his (GR) ashes with his wife in 2014, they should get Gerry Anderson a ticket for that. Great man, Great legacy.

I'm sad. I've loved all his works at some point. I'm 45 and still love a good Eagle Transporter model !

Was watching the BBC "who died in 2012" slideshow and couldn't help thinking to myself at the time that the 26th was probably too early to do one without potentially missing someone else that's famous. :(

Sad to hear the news, my childhood would certainly have been less fun without Gerry's creations influencing it so much.

    :-(

2012 has not been a good one for many of the people who defined my childhood. RIP Gerry.

:( I was just watching Thunderbirds this morning (probably just as he passed away in fact) and was hoping he might re-acquire the right and do something new with it, like he did with Captain Scarlet. Such a real shame, he's responsible for many generations worth of joy.

RIP, Gerry, Spectrum will never really be green again without you.

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi

I remember loving Terrahawks as a kid, but when I tried to sit through an episode of Thunderbirds a few years ago I was bored to tears.

    Really sad news:(

A lot of his vehicles still look extremely cool, especially the eagles and those interceptors from Captain Scarlet.

    Captain Scarlet was the shit.

His family were worried that there might be some special conditions in his will but surprisingly there were no strings attached.

An absolute legend who will be sorely missed for both his imagination and his pioneering puppetry work.

If he wasn't American, he would have been a prime contender for a knighthood.

Grew up with Thunderbirds and Terrahawks, but for me Captain Scarlett and Stingray were his best - Marina is right up there for strange schoolboy crushes

Heard he was passed over for the Moonraker screenplay - now that would have been interesting.

Err, he wasn't American (and had an MBE).

    R.I.P. Gerry.

Stunning collection of shows that made my childhood all the better for watching them. Still catch them on BBC from time to time and can't help but become entranced every single time.

    RIP :(

At his funeral, they should tie some strings to his corpse and have him give his own eulogy in oppa puppet style.
