    Never played vanquish sadly.
You must play it, it's wonderful. It took a couple of tries of the demo to click, but I had it on pre-order straight afterwards.

It even got me into bayonetta. A game type I never really like, but I loved vanquish so much I played Bayonetta straight after.

    Bioshock is dull as dishwater.

I've only played the first, I dunno, 25%ish of bioshock and what struck me was that it was one long deus ex game with only 1 enemy type and all the non-combat bits taken out. I'm probably wrong, but that's why I only booted it up a couple of times. (Borrowed a copy off someone, if you have to ask).

I really liked it, but I'll agree that everything after the twist was just awful.

To be fair, the game itself didn't necessarily become awful, it just lost any impactful meaning, in that you find out about Andrew Ryan then, well ... nothing much.

Not only that, the last 'boss' was truly horrific, like it belongs in a different game altogether.

Sometimes, I think the developers just do not know when to finish their game, hey?

I never got as far as the twist. Tried to play it about 3 times. Found the combat dull, the environment bland, the UI annoying. Just couldnt get on with it.

Oh come on, not even the becoming a Big Daddy bit? Everything from collecting the bits to being in the suit was horrendous!

The Fable games are a good example of this, but at the other end of of the scale from Bioshock - they just abruptly end. Though with 3 I understand that was at least partly down to MS shoving it out the door before it was ready.

    I would counter that with:

Arkham City moved too far away from what made Asylum great.

Arkham City: gaming proof that bigger and more diffuse isn't necessarily better.

    Yakuza is an overrated series.

I'm just extrapolating from Yakuza 2 but from I've been told the storyline doesn't get any 'better'. The fighting mechanics are decent and fun, aside from a few niggles and it had a few neat things to do outside story missions (hostess thing was crap though).

But it's plot is what really turned me off it. From reviews of 1 and 2, I was expecting some sort of gritty, realistic-ish tale of the underworld in Japan.

Instead I got a really romanticized view of the Yakuza, like the false distinction between the Jingweon Group and the Yakuza, I mean they're both groups of killers but somehow the Jingweon are more evil.

As the well the fact insane things happen throughout the main storyline, like a castle popping up from underground.

Edit: I heard the Yakuza have their fingers in everything over there so I wouldn't blame them for making the Yakuza look positive.

Plus it still didn't fix the biggest problem with the first game - shitty bloody boss battles.

    Final Fantasy 7 was shit

Competitive Multiplayer FPS games are frustrating not fun.

Call of Duty single player campaigns are great.

I never got bored of WWII FPS games and I want the genre to have a resurgence. I just love the ping that American rifle makes!

Arkum Asylum tried to be all things to all men,and was boring.

I loved gears of war 3. Yeah the characters are over the top and don't make you care for them but my god the action is amazing. Easily the best third person shooter for just the shooting mechanics/gameplay.
See, why you like it is why I dislike it! I love to care about what I'm playing (to the extent when I was gutted when UC2 ended). Same with Half Life 2; excellent mechanics but found the plotless A to B grind uninvolving. Portal 2 was bang on though.

The pc version looks bloody gorgeous in 1080p and it's smooth as butter also. Hardcore racing games are the one itch PC owners can't scratch to the same degree as console owners.

I liked gears three way more than the second one. Preferred the first one over both the sequels though.

Apart from the awe I got from first playing Halo 1, all the rest of the games I played in the series (2 and 3 ) are a bit boring. And I'm a guy who likes science-fiction. Only enjoyment I received was playing local co-op.
