    I think the Dual Shock is a better all around pad than the 360. The 360 pad is good for FPS or racers, but pretty awful for most other things. The face buttons are too hard, the D-pad's naff and the shoulder buttons are too clicky.

    For me the DS has the sticks in the wrong place, has horrible for long use raised sticks, and has far less enjoyable rear triggers.

    The dpad is much better but that's about it really.

    X360 pad is sweatier, d-pad is obviously crap, and concave sticks are a design failure because the edges cut into your thumbs when moving the left stick up, or the right stick left. More comfortable my arse.

    I also wonder in what way the DS' left stick is in the wrong place while the right stick of both controllers isn't.

    Erm, it has rumble. That's why it's called Dualshock.

    DS is made for people with little girl hands who love shit triggers.

    I can't agree with the sticks in the wrong place. They're too high, too big, and fall apart too easily, but my hands are symmetrical, my pad should be too.

    @DrStrangelove because upper position is primary, and left stick and face buttons are primary.

    I spent many years using the convex ds1/2 sticks and that shape just does not work. Concave gives you more control and precision. Dual shock analogue feels like guessing where you are pushing the stick. I don't know what you are doing to make it cut into your thumbs... Probably using the old DS technique. No need. 360 sticks are comfy.

    Not as good as the GameCube stick, but still great.

    @monkehhh

    My hands are fairly large, and still the DS is better. Never had any problems with the triggers.

    I wonder how Brits after Maggie can prefer the X360 controller, since it's obviously made for miners who dug the coal out of stone with their bare hands.

    @DrStrangelove I prefer comfort and precision to gangly wayward imprecision.

    That's a point. My niece, whom is a little girl, possessing little girl hands, does struggle with the 360 pad. She is master of the Wiimote though.

    What I do is I move the stick up without moving the base of my thumb up in the air and having the the thumb tip down at a 90 angle which is fucking uncomfortable as well. I've been using my X360 pad for PC playing for about two years now, and it still just fucking sucks. Making a headstand on glass shards is more comfortable.

    I definitely prefer the sticks on the 360 pad. Concave sticks are far better as your thumb fits right in there unless you have weird flat fingers, though I did prefer the first PSone Analog controllers sticks in that regard. Better position too - the left stick should be where it is because movement and navigating menus are almost always the primary control.

    For the right hand side it's the buttons, with the right stick as a camera control so it shouldn't need used as much (except in shooters). I did actually think symmetrical sticks in the higher position would be preferable, but having used the Wii U Pro Controller I no longer feel that way.

    I also prefer the 360 triggers and buttons except the bumpers, where I prefer L1 & R1.

    All opinions though, of course :)

    @DrStrangelove see you feel about the 360 stick how I do about the DS stick. On DS I have to keep readjusting as the contact point is so small, the huge movement means it pulls more on the skin, which gets irritating after an hour or so. Because its a huge stick its very very hard to judge a precise u/d/l/r position.

    Analogue sticks being awkward or unwieldy I can understand, but anyone being caused pain or irritation by them is almost certainly doing it wrong.

    @King_Edward ds2 wasn't as bad as ds1, but they are not comfortable.

    @RobTheBuilder

    The DS' soft convex sticks are like making love to a fairy made of pudding. I can use it for hours and it's still comfortable. I can't use the X360 pad for more than 15 minutes without my thumbs hurting.

    And I like it a lot that I can use both thumb joints to control the left stick, whereas with the X360 the base joint has to do all the work alone, which is bad for precision.

    Like I said. Short of you missing a few fingers, or your palms being coated in boils, I'm fairly sure you're holding it wrong. :)

    Ditto for DrStrangelove. Something is not right.

    That would have been easier if you didn't reply, but if you have any strong opinion on DS3 vs X360 pad, please share. We're only getting started.

    I like how utterly odious the co-creator is. What's his name? Something Fish. Wanky hipster asshole who deftly makes everyone hate him without apparently trying.

    I'll trip him over when he's on his way up to collect another worthless award and cackle as he gibbers his acceptance speech through broken teeth and a gored lip.

    No, really.

    I have no problem with Fish coming across as an arsehole, Fez is among the most accomplished and created with love and compassion games I ever played. Pure genius.

    Replace the face buttons, the d-pad and the clicky shoulder buttons and the 360 pad is better.

    So in summary, Dualshock for me easily.
