Gave Bioshock Infinite another go - all the gaming parts of it still feel awful - I think it's the first 10/10 type game I personally wouldn't give 5/10 for.

I know it has split the opinions of gamers but I find it a bit cringe-worthy the way the gaming media have universally lauded it. Emperor's New Clothes For Me.

They can charge whatever they like on their on-off-in-out-disk DLC. It's their product.

    It's a luxury product.

If you don't like it then don't buy the DLC or better yet, don't buy the game. If enough people don't buy it, they'll have to reconsider their position or lose money.

But most gamers (on forums) never do, they usually buy it anyway.

Oh, just fuck off. I hate that condescending attitude that posters that have when they think buying certain videogames makes you stupid.

They aren't the evil that some people make out, but creating something as part of the game and then artificially holding it back is still a pretty shoddy thing to do.

@DrStrangelove I wouldn't say it looks dull, but it hasn't exactly looked thrilling.

On one hand I can see people are pissed by day one DLC, but on the other hand those games tend to be immense even without that DLC today. I see it more as "standard edition" without, and "premium edition" with DLC.

But of course, it depends on what is the DLC. It has to be a full game without it. When a new Street Fighter game needs lots of extra cash to unlock Blanka and others, that's just an insulting ripoff.

They haven't even shown off any actual gameplay yet, so it's hard to tell how boring/exciting it will be compared to IV. But the gameplay stuff I've read about sounds much more interesting than it ever was in IV.

Quite a few people share this opinion including me (ok not quite as harsh as 4/10 but still).

The actual gameplay is a massive step backwards from the second game and Columbia lacks the atmosphere of Rapture. That's not an opinion though, it's fact. ;)

    The story was alright though.

Like... everything else we pay for? :p So we have to pay for something that costs money - I can't see the crime. I don't get angry about the trial DVDs included on magazine covers or with motherboards that contain the full software as long as you buy a key, and can't quite see the difference here.

Probably not the most popular opinion, though, eh. ;)
I don't think it's a total evil, and publishers have pulled worse and got away with it. But it just feels twatish to have fully playable content on the disc that I don't have access too for however long it takes them to release the keys.

Sorry, I actually meant I wouldn't give it more than 5/10 - 4/10 would be silly...could have been made into a great film though mind ;)

comparing disc locked content to trials on disc is pretty poor argument. No one expects demos on XBLA to be full games.

I have noticed more gamers eager to be taken advantage of treated like like shit

Bioshock Infinite is another one of those style over substance games for me. It's all very well having a great setting and story, but the gameplay has to match up to it. I've only played three 360 games this year but BI was the least memorable of those.

Bad for Sony perhaps, but how is it bad for consumers?

It might be unpopular, but any sane person would agree with that.

edit: ok, that was a bit simplistic, so let me rephrase. Any sane person without numb shovel hands would agree with that.

DS3 is a piece of shit. If I thought it was better, I'd use one instead of a 360 controller, but it isn't and I'm not.

I've not used the ds3 that much, but I've never for one minute felt I'd prefer to use it over the 360 pad.

Barring the awful dpad the 360 pad is the best gaming pad ever.

That's the only thing that annoys me about PS+, they're not free games, you're paying for them. It's like saying "I get free stuff from LoveFilm! Best service ever!".

It's a good service and developers agreed to put their games in it, so the sales issue is non-existent imo. But it is just a rental service.

Dual shock is a piece of shit, awful thumbsticks, left thumbstick is baldy place, shitty triggers

Got a 360 pad with rotating d-pad, no idea why MS didn't fix the shitty initial d-pad design

I kinda see where you're coming from. Such a great atmosphere and setting ruined by another samey linear FPS type of gameplay. It's too videogamey for its own good.
