I was more annoyed by the fuzzy screen throughout my game on the 360 version. Please tell me they've patched that by now? Not that it matters to me anymore, it's someone else's problem now.

F-Zero and Hi-Octane are better than Wipeout.

    Don't what Hi-Octane is but F-Zero X was definitely funner than Wip3out.

How come they never made a sequel on Wii?

It's Bullfrog's take on the genre. You could say, if Wipeout is sci-fi F1, Hi-Octane is sci-fi rally. More drifting, more anarchy.

The problem of Hi-Octane was that it had nothing like a career mode or something. You could play a tournament, but there was little in the way of motivation or progress. Still great racing/shooting fun.

I enjoyed F-Zero X more than any other racing game.

And while we're at unpopular opinions: the worst Sabbath albums are Heaven and Hell, and Mob Rules.

Is liking F-Zero more unpopular because Psygnosis (not Sony Liverpool, they will forever remain Psygnosis, and there WILL BE Colony Wars and G Police sequels one day! The cyberowl will return, dammit!) was a British studio?

I like them both about the same, if you ask me. Kind of like two great flavors of the same thing, though I think GX is way better than X and I haven't played any of the newer Wipeouts past the first PSP one.

I don't think liking F-Zero is unpopular, although I sometimes get the impression people think Wipeout is the best. Personally, I think Wipeout is nice, but there are much better games in sci-fi racing.

I love the whole genre and I think its a pity it peetered out. Did you like the chaos of Extreme G? Those games were frustrating, but fun. Nitrous Oxide was pretty fun too.

I think the tracks of F-Zero X were alot more outlandish than anything in Wip3out. Like that Mobious Strip track.

Yeah, I see what you mean, but I like GX better because part of what I want to see from these games is a weird futuristic world (I'll always remember that one GX track has a golden sunset hue, tons of right angles and no rails to keep you on the track) and X just looked nasty to me. Though it certainly was a creative game!

Iirc they stripped X down so it would run at 60fps consistently.

    I've haven't played GX, I was just comparing Wip3out to F-Zero X.
Did they have the create a track in GX, they were supposed to have in X?

No, they didn't, but what they did have made up for it (and eventually the track generator for X did come out on the 64DD). If you can manage to unlock it, I believe there is a track that randomly generated each time you play and it might be endless. Though I might be confusing the two games.

GX is one of the greatest racing games ever made, and I recommend it if you have a Wii. It really does not age very much. It also has those crazy corkscrew and half-pipe levels you liked in X, just even crazier.

F-Zero X certainly had a random track generator. I only won the final Master championship because the game created a level that had such an evil bend none of the computer controlled cars could stay on the track.

I do not believe I unlocked one on F-Zero GX although I did not play it as much as X.

Okay, so here's my unpopular opinion: Super Hang-On 3D is the best racing game released in the last 10 years.

    They made Hang-On 3D?

They brought out Super Hang-On under the eShop on the 3DS, and as part of that they tweaked it to give it a sort of fake 3D overlay.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

@bobdebob They did, not only originally for the old Sega systems with 3D glasses (did you not know about that?) but a sort of Super Hang On 3D Classics version for the 3DS which released four days ago for 600 yen. Its absolutely balls-blinkeringly brilliant. I can't stop playing it.

If you decide to change the options so that you use the gyro sensor for 3D movement, simulate the arcade monitor and cabinet movement, then it feels uncannily like riding the old arcade versions where you sat on motorcycle to steer.

I thought you meant an actual 3D Hang-On (looking on the net, they did actually make one), but I remember those 3d glasses for the Master System, didn't own one though. Must be outrageously expensive on ebay.

Edit:I'll check out the 3ds version.

The only two racing games I enjoyed as a kid were Mario Kart and Road Rash. Love Super Hang-On now, but I hated 2D raers for the most part. I think it was because of how the track looked as if it had the track would bend into a corner.

Edit: Loved Micro Machines 1 & 2, actually!

@JinTypeNoir The Extreme G games were so close to being amazing.
Dodgy frame rates spoilt them. Going past speed of sound was an excellent feature

How so?  If I can hole myself up in a room,  perhaps with a few mines,  maybe some teammates and watch people continuously blunder in and die then that's tactical not cheap. Perhaps they should use tactics to oust me?  A few grenades perhaps or just simply ignore me and bore me out if there. But no,  they keep running in desperate to kill me knowing they're most likely going to get caught in the crossfire.
