I quite liked Link to the Past and Wind Waker but didn't manage to finish either but playing more than 5% of a Nintendo game is pretty good for me.

LTTP has possibly the best structure to a game I have ever encountered. Throwing Dark World into the mix was awesome... plus playing the game to get every hidden thing was a pleasure that didn't require a guide of obscure collectibles to do. Getting that piece of heart that required you to exit Dark World dungeon 6 and leap to Light World was a quality discovery.

    They're alright. Frequently annoying, though

I hate you all. Especially you.

Edit: Referring to Zelda, not as a general opinion. Although...

I fucking hate the Zelda games.

I've tried again and again (Ocarina, MM, TP...) thinking there must be something wrong with me. But I was bored to tears every time. I even tried 3D Dot Game Heroes and gave up halfway through out of boredom.

It's not even like I dislike the genre itself, as Okami is one of my favourite games of all time.
Did you play them at the time of release? Cause OOT is quite boring to play nowadays since I know it back to front and the sequels haven't quite wowed me since Wind Waker for the same reason.

I think this applies to most kids games that you used to play as a kid, you either know them too well or they take up too much of your time.

I only played through Kid Icarus: Uprising once but I'm sure I would have gotten a bigger kick out of it as a kid and the same with Mario 3D land.

I could never get into Okami. Started it on PS2 but shelved it and eventually traded it for the Wii version. Tried again and discovered the Wii controls were worse than on the PS2 despite expecting a more logical set up.

I still have the Wii game sitting on the shelf. Might try again with the HD remake though.

I think it was a Zelda saturation issue though as I initially tried to play it after Twilight Princess.

    Uncharted 2 co-op/mp > U3 co-op/mp.

    The latter is not balanced.

Gears of War 2 is way better than Gears 3.

All cutscenes in all games should be two things:
    Pausable
    Skippable.

Uncharted 2 was my favourite multiplayer game this generation. (Halo Reach was second).

The sequels to both games have vastly inferior online multiplayer as they tried to mimic CoD.

I am happy losing to a person online because they are better than me at the game. However it annoys me when they use skills or equipment that I do not have access to.

Absolutely agree. I also think they should all have subtitle options.

Uncharted 2 did that. To a ridiculous extent in fact.

Yet all of the very top perks in Uncharted 2 actually made you weaker:
Show all other players where you are
    Halve health

Also, once they are unlocked, let them be watchable from the game menu at any time. A number of times I've had to skip a cut scene because my little girl has the attention span of a gnat, but wanted to see what was going on for myself at a later point.

Halo series is like a cartoon series for kids. Simply terrible series, so overrated.
  • Deleted user 3 January 2013 23:40:38
I don't like the Mass Effect series, I just find it boring really. And Dead Space, it's just something I don't seem to like.

I love Halo though, the story line is just awesome.

I am a Halo newbie, just recently started the first game (PC), but I would agree with you. Certainly a very polished game, good voice-acting and stuff but man, those enemies are funny.
This is what aliens are supposed to look like?
And the combat... it kinda feels like a little boy pretending to be a soldier, shooting a plastic gun or something.
Can't find much motivation to continue after a couple of levels. I expect the sequels are very similar, just bigger and better-looking(?)

I loved Halo 1 & 2, but the console FPS market is so much further on than it was when they came out.

    Here is my unpopular opinion:

    Mass Effect 3 was excellent.

The first game did nothing for me at all, coming from a PC fps background at the time. I found it floaty and way too ambitious for the tech.

My favourite was Halo 2 which is odd as most people hate that one. It's the only one I've played through to completion.

I think Halo is one of those series. It doesn't really change much. It's a time and a place game. Any one game can click with anybody at anytime, depending on their gaming exposure.

My son loves 3 and finds the new one disappointing.

Great multiplayer and I loved the single player perspective switch with Arbiter. Excellently rounded story too. One of the few games where I have notched the difficulty up for an extra play through. In fact probably the only.

Once I got round to 3, I had no care left. I booted it up with anticipation, and halfway through I felt like I was going through the motions.
