The dev that gave us Home Alone and Wayne's World on the SNES? Can't say I'm completely gutted.

Is there any news on Vigil and the Darksiders series? Would be a real shame if we never saw another.

Apparently South Park Studios (didn't even know that was a thing) are saying the contract made it clear THQ had to be the publisher so they can't sell The Stick of Truth. Hopefully that gets sorted out one way or the other soon so we can actually get the game.

Other than that let's just hope everyone who's lost their job can find something soon!

Sucks that nobody came in for Vigil. Looks like the end of them and Darksiders.

Viacom funded development and had the contract with obsidian, THQ were merely the distributor as far as I was aware. Should be no significant delay there.

@mikew1985 I hope that's right. What I heard was from here, namely:
According to a formal objection filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, South Park Studios says its original deal with THQ excuses it “from accepting performance from or rendering performance to a party other than THQ.”
Obviously THQ are refuting that though.

Really sad to hear the reports that no one has bought Vigil and Darksiders. I don't understand how these things work but apparently there's still an opportunity.

I'd have thought all those WWE games would keep them in business, they usuall sell well.

Evolve is a game in development at Turtle Rock.

Take 2 paid 10.8 million for it.

Only other offer was a cheeky 250k from Turtle Rock itself.

Do these sales also take the respective IPs? For example, are my hopes of a new Red Faction any more possible, should Koch Media want it? Or does THQ retain Red Faction?

I love that they haven't paid WWE a penny in royalties since the day they started.

No word on Darksiders or WWE then? I'd have thought they'd be quite desirable purchases, even with that debt for WWE.

Still, both flavours of Warhammer: Total War? I hope.

I'm really happy Relic got snapped up by Sega as they're remarkably PC friendly for a Japanese company. Also makes me have a little nerdgasm for a Creative Assembly/Relic project.

Some rumours on NeoGAF that EA might have got ahold of the WWE licence. They really couldn't so a worse job with it than THQ have in recent years.

Makes sense, it is an annual 'sports' title after all. I wonder if they had to pay the unpaid royalties too.

No that paragraph seems likely to be right, what I read that to mean is that THQ have nothing to sell in regard to south park and Viacom are free to strike a deal with another distributor.

Hopefully Sega do a decent job with Relic. There's a lot of talent there for the publisher of the Total War series. I hope CoH2 doesn't suffer, though it looks like that's quite far along in development.

I'm also glad that Metro should continue.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.

CoH2 is done, even Sega would struggle to screw it up at this point.

Fuck Koch Media. Just putting that out there.

And RIP. Some of the games I worked on were published by THQ :/

In my (relatively uninformed ) view Volition are the pick of the bunch. Graphics are pretty much good enough so a big focus for the next gen is destructible environments, and they've had awesome tech for years. They've also proved they can make amazing games with Saints Row (my single player game of this gen). Put those 2 together and you've got something worthy of step up to the next gen.

Ubisoft are likely to delay the PC version of South Park purely on principle, aren't they? :p

THQ were stars this generation, but people bought the same sequelised shit and now they're gone. I mean, this gen, I played Red Faction Guerilla, all 3 Saints Row games, Metro 2033,Darksiders, Company of Heroes, Dawn of War II and expansions... all great games.

    GUTTED.
