2013 Crystal ball

    Christmas is almost apon us. Santa will be coming down our chimminys with his bulging sack... That sounds a bit wrong. Then it's just a festive jump, skip, and hop to 2013 that is if the world doesn't end on the 21. I'm assuming it won't. So what do you reckon will happen in gaming next year? This thread is your chance to call it and proudly proclaim I bloody told you so!

    I'm going to play it pretty safe with my predictions:

    1 - It won't be far after Xmas that we start hearing about Sony and Microsoft next gen consoles

    2 - The WiiU won't be getting the sales Nintendo would like to see so they will slash the price of the WiiU within 3 months of Christmas.

    3 - Grand theft auto breaks sales records.

    4 - Valve announce a steam powered."console"

    5 - The next COD sales are down and it's the start of a trend.

    1 - I'll buy some Wii U exclusives and enjoy them.
    2 - I'll sell my Wii U to buy a PS4 or Xbox 720.

    Tomb Raider game will be great.

    I agree with 2 and that's the reason I held off buying a Wii U. It hopefully won't be too long 'til the premium is selling for £200. :D

    1) Bob will create the legendary 'Super Mario Burger'. It'll have lots of levels but probably lead to you squatting over a pipe for quite some while.

    2) E3 will be a phenomenal disappointment. Odds on certainty.

    3) PS4 and Next-Box will be announced but have a sneaky feeling one, if not both, will be delayed until 2014.

    4) WiiU to be best selling Christmas Toy 2014.

    5) One of the big name Kickstarters will fail disasterously and end interest in crowdsourcing.

    People will complain there is too many good games getting released.

    Xbox Live Gold features as we know today will be free. Microsoft will instead have consoles on contract as an option and a new tier with discounts on some services and other bonuses. Bit like a pick and mix sub.

    Sony will roll out the Last Guardian as PS4 first year title. PS4 will make US only launch in 2013. Controller will get a new design.

    Halo 4 Complete Edition for new Xbox launch on Blu-Ray.

    Rare show off amazing games again, has to happen one day.

    F2P will fail and take many devs down.

    My only predictions are Microsoft will buy AMD, and release the 720 in Japan following TGS. With US just a few days before Christmas 2013, and EU release to follow Feb 2014.

    1) I'm fine with the squatting over the pipe thing as long as there isn't some kind of dangerous carnivorous plant that shoots fireballs. That's got to be awful cruel on the bum!

    3) I agree with you there.

    5) 100 percent agree! It's gonna happen for sure. I don't think it will kill kickstarter though. I think kickstarter is one of these bubbles that gets over hyped. Once the bubble is burst it will still be around but far less high profile and far lower amounts of money going around.

    It'll be nice to wake up next Christmas and play a 'next-generation' console!

    ... I also fancy seeing the Rare of old too; a new IP as well as another Perfect Dark please?

    Michael "The Utter Gobshite" Pachter will make 100 predictions. A couple will be right on the money, and EG will report it as if he's more knowledgeable and newsworthy than the smarter posters here (which he isn't by a long shot).

    Half life 3 on new source engine on new valve box.

    Bayonetta two is amazing and annoys me that it is on Wii u.

    GTA 5 is awesome.

    Bioshock is awesome but doesn't meet expectations.

    Wii u doesn't sell well, big price drops.

    No ps4.

    Maybe new Xbox.

    Xbla games continue to release excellent games, many of which are better than full releases.

    The new game from naughty dog and the heavy rain developers will require me to borrow a ps3 as they both look amazing.

    Xbox 720 will launch late next year, probably November, with mostly third-party titles propping up its launch catalogue.

    PS4 will get an E3 reveal but won't launch until early 2014, accompanied by first party titles like MotorStorm 4 and Killzone 4.

    Mirror's Edge 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 will get E3 reveals, probably for 2014 on next gen hardware.

    The next Retro Studios game will get an E3 reveal, hopefully a new IP.

    Uncharted 4 will be revealed for a late 2014 release on PS4.

    The Vita will probably pick up in Japan but never really gain traction in the West.
